Can play online through their member rewards web site or with Atlantis Reno app on phone or tablet.
Quote: scubatim84Just so everyone knows, in case you're off the mailer list or haven't signed up for it yet, Atlantis Reno is running an online VP tournament through the 24th. Top winner is 3 nights in a suite, round trip airfare and $200 in free play. Pays 10 spots with decreasing value although 10th still gets 2 nights free. Downside is it's three play with multiplier, and unless you hit a RF with a multiplier active, you're never going to win enough points to place in the tourny. Still, FYI in case anyone really wants a few nights free in Reno. :)

Thanks for the tip. Probably just a promotional thing, but I signed up anyway. Love that area!
Is this one of them My Vegas rewards app type of things?Quote: scubatim84

No, it's just a ten-day high-score Video Poker contest by which the grand prize winner gets a free flight to Reno, three free nights and some amount of free play I forget.

Looks like you need to be dealt a royal (or hit multiple royals) with a hefty multiplier active to win!
I wonder what strategy would make the most sense? Hold any 2 or more to a royal and discard everything else?

Double Double Bonus, Dealt Aces with a Kicker + 12x Multiplier = 72000, 11x Multiplier = 66000
Other than that, basically Dealt Royal with a multiplier or hit a Royal with a Multiplier and another big hand. Royal 11x = 44000 and Aces w/Kicker 12x = 24000, some combination of those hands with high multipliers.
Quote: scubatim84The weird thing I noticed about their app is sometimes it applies the multiplier to the hand you're about to play, before you play it, and sometimes it applies the multiplier after you discard on your current hand.
I figured that was intended, kind of like double super times pay where you can get the STP either on the first round or the draw, or both.
The game is pretty close to STP, but at a higher cost, (5 coins v. 1 coin for STP, 2 for double STP). So it seems that for the extra $$ you get 2 chances for the roll to come up on each hand, as well as the full run from 2x to 12x.

Interestingly, I believe that the game (with multiplier) would have to pay the same as (or better) than the base game in live casinos pursuant to Nevada law. I also believe that, since the visual representation of the multiplier is dice, they must be randomized in the same way dice would be randomized. If that is the case, it becomes a simple affair to determine what the MINIMUM probability of getting a multiplier should be, I think.
(1/36 * 2) + (2/36 * 3) + (3/36 * 4) + (4/36 * 5) + (5/36 * 6) + (6/36 * 7) + (5/36 * 8) + (4/36 * 9) + (3/36 * 10) + (2/36 * 11) + (1/36 *12) = 7
That means that the average multiplier, assuming a player gets a multiplier, is going to be 7x.
Okay, the base paytable for the Hot Roll game is 9/5 DDB, for DDB, which pays .9787 or 97.87%
On hands where the player does not receive a multiplier, the player is effectively playing for HALF of that return on such a hand, or, .48935 or 48.935%.
From that, we determine that the average hand WITH a multiplier returns .48935 * 7 = 3.42545 or 342.545%
We can use trial-and-error to solve for this, actually, because all we have to do is add 3.42545 to (.48935 * x) and divide by x + 1 until the sum equals or exceeds .9787.
((3.42545) + (.48935 * 5))/6 = .9787
In this case, that means that we arrive at the exact same return percentage (to wit .9787 or 97.87%) if the probability of achieving a multiplier is 1/6 (the probability of not getting one is 5/6) and therefore, the game (under such conditions) would return the same as DDB with the same paytable.
That doesn't mean that is necessarily the return for the game, just pursuant to my understanding of Nevada law, that is the minimum probability of a multiplier. If you wanted to increase the return slightly, you could even do something like this:
((3.42545 *101) + (.48935 * 499))/600 = 0.9835935
or
((3.42545 * 1001)+(.48935*4999))/6000 = 0.97918935
Thus, it could be 1/6 hands for a multiplier of some kind or greater than 1/6 hands, but 1/6 hands is a minimal case.
EDIT: I should also mention that an average multiplier of 7 with probability 1/6 has the same effect on all possible base games (absent some other feature) on all possible paytables, for this reason, I think it is very likely the case.
Quote: scubatim84Yeah. The odds are so small that you would hit the necessary dealt hand with a multiplier that you're better off just spam-clicking deal to get through the session as fast as possible. Each session counts as a separate entry into the daily drawing for 2 winners to receive 2 nights free. Plus if you receive a dealt RF I'm assuming it'll lock up same as a real machine anyway so it would stop you from tossing the hand (hopefully).
With the High Score at 69xxxK, I think you're better off to play DDB correctly. It is true that you would need a dealt 4A's/Kicker with the multiplier, at a minimum, but if you got that with the 11x multiplier, then that is 66,000 credits and it's perfectly conceivable that you would be able to pull 3K-4K credits with the other 99 hands. However, if you just spam click through it and don't play correctly, you could hit the dealt Aces w/Kicker with that 11x multiplier but have done very poorly on your other hands and cost yourself the win.
For my part, I may or may not play again prior to the 24th, the time EV (at this point) is so low that even if I have time to screw around with a little free on-line VP, it's better for me to play the WoO with the analyzer and improve my skills on a game I actually like.
Quote: JoemanFYI, Atlantis has just started another free online VP Tournament for Nov 6-15. This time with Ultimate X. It looks like the prize schedule is similar to their last tourney, with the top prize being 3 nights in a suite plus round trip airfare and $200 in free play.
Thanks for the notice! Definitely something to do for anyone who has a few minutes of downtime. I love most of the WoO Games, and I like VP.com, but you can't beat this for value while killing a few minutes.
