I referred a friends Mom to Bovada and asked her to use the WoO BV link the other day(I have referred others as well). She has some temporary heath problem but loves to gamble. So I thought this would be a "good idea". (Not sure if her sons inheritances will be depleted, and he will hate me.)
I could have used my own refer a friend code. I don't use WoO much however, since I use the forum (witch I don't think generates any profit unlike WoO, I think its fair.
Anyways,
my friend called me saying, "he was helping his mom set up her BV account." but he said, It says the following: We do not accept registration from your state. I laughed and said," you must be doing something wrong, check the state make sure its correct."
He said everything is correct he triple checked it (all 2 things). He said you cant do anything wrong, just add Untied States and NV. As soon as he clicks the sate of NV it wont let him proceed and he gets the: "We're sorry" message.
I told him to change the state and see what happens. BINGO! He said, it would allow him to proceed if he wanted.
Still skeptical, I asked him to send me a screen shot, he then sent me a screen shot of both. I can't see that he is doing anything wrong.
Quote: DRichI believe they are also not accepting New Jersey and Delaware anymore. Apparently they will not be allowing it in any states that start allowing state sanctioned online gambling.
which makes sense because those are the states that having something to lose. If they are losing money to online casinos then they are more likely to push to have them shut down.
New name will have to be Novada. that's just crazy. I assumed this was the case, it does make sense to me. Of course they will service current NV players, right???????Quote: DRichI believe they are also not accepting New Jersey and Delaware anymore. Hope not, tired of Axelwolf stealing my blinds :-)
Poker room should be a better place without NJ and NV sharp AP players :-)
But I play VP and slots as well, Even - EV slots Once in a while when they give me free credits.Quote: terapinedHope not, tired of Axelwolf stealing my blinds :-)

Also when I meet people playing poker, in casinos , family, neighbors people who like to gamble anyways, I tell them about BV(I have no doubt slots are better payback then the average casino.) 24/7 Jacks or better and other good pay-tables and bonuses + cash back. How can you beat that? I used to refer a lot of people. If nothing else it makes for non-boring DMV lines.

I think this is the case right here. I'm thinking they don't want to draw any heat.

Just poker

Poker and sports betting are available inside the NV borders on computers and mobile devices. Online casino games are restricted to the casino properties. For example, at a Cantor book you can play online casino games while watching a sporting event. I believe these also work in hotel rooms and anywhere else on the property but require a special device provided by Cantor that will not work if it leaves the property.

Did you miss the post where I explained "Bovada" has a Spanish homonym (bobada) meaning "idiotic nonsense"?
I did miss that, however bovada/bodogs has been nothing but Aces in my book for many years. >>>No nonsense<<<Quote: NareedDid you miss the post where I explained "Bovada" has a Spanish homonym (bobada) meaning "idiotic nonsense"?
One time, and one time only (during the big Black Friday crackdown) it took longer then I expected to receive payment. I have gotten a check in 3 days before. They have good phone support 24/7 CS and have always over compensated me if there was a problem. They take my CC no problem. I wont ever go so far as to say any online casino is fully random however, the games have been better to me then most BM casinos have.
This might be Black Thursday for BV fans and Mike. I'm not sure how many people from NV are interested in BV.

Sure, but names are important in marketing.
Remember Enron? One name they'd considered was "Enteron," or so legend has it. That name is too close for the Latin term for the digestive system. Now picture a gas and oil company naming itself ater intestines :)
I've often wondered how the Mexican bakery giant "Bimbo" would do marketing that brand in America. Picture "Bimbo Donuts"
I was unaware that BV had any issues with marketing.Quote: NareedSure, but names are important in marketing.

I would buy a Bimbo Donuts. :)
Nevada is poker only.[*] You can download software & look at the live games running for yourself, if you like, from outside the State & without an account. Just not play the State licensed sites 'till you are & you do; this only will work for "railbirding."Quote: rainmanIs Nevada only allowing poker Or are they offering the full gamut online?
I know a guy (a lunatic degenerate loser!) who played on Bovada as recently as yesterday from within Nevada, so if they intend to cut off existing NV accounts they haven't been very effective at it to date.
*EDIT to add: I see Pokeraddict's post, and he/she is right, you can also do sports betting within the State. That's been so for quite a while longer than poker; shoulda thought of that, since I have several of those (totally separate) sports wagering accounts.

They are real:

I've been Bimbo billboards in the US before, when I was up in Michigan. It had the white cartoon bear basically shouting "It's BEEMBO!"
Although I don't recall seeing any advertising, Bimbo DID get some shelf space during the Hostess crisis.Quote: NareedI've often wondered how the Mexican bakery giant "Bimbo" would do marketing that brand in America. Picture "Bimbo Donuts"

I don't think pronunciation is the problem.
No idea, either, why the company is called "Bimbo." I do know they own pretty much all major industrial baked goods in Mexico and have large investments in the US and Canada.
BTW, Taco Bell has tried twice to establish a presence in Mexico, and failed twice, too. In one attempt they promoted the chain as being authentic American food. As if a retaurant with the word "taco" could be aiming at anything other than Mexican cuisine (real or fake).
I've heard they do ahve some tasty items (I've never eaten there). If so then the problem is one of marketing. You can't sell foreign Mexican food in mexico (imagine trying to set up a Mexican burger place in America). What they need is a different name for the restaurant and perhaps for the items. it woulnd't hurt to include some actual Mexican food, like real tacos or such. Fridays and Chilli's do well selling Tex-Mex here.
Bimbo B I M B O
The only problem is that whenever I withdraw from now on I'm going to be thinking about the fact that a downswing after a withdrawal means I have to move down in stakes fast. Hopefully that doesn't happen any time soon. I guess it's time to add some high value, low variance events into my schedule (looking at the 5-10 rebuys to put back into my schedule to lower variance.)

Bovada Pulls Out of Nevada and Delaware
June 20, 2014 By Kevin Horridge
Major online poker operator Bovada has announced that it has ceased to accept new players from Nevada and Delaware. This follows its declaration at the end of last month that New Jersey players would no longer be able to open Bovada accounts, which means the company has effectively shut up shop on the newly regulated American markets. Read More.
What I heard, though, was that the reason they pulled out of WA is that it is a felony to gamble online there. AFAIK, it's not a felony in the other states. In fact, in NJ, I know that it's illegal to gamble on unregulated websites - but thus far have been unable to find a punishment (not a lawyer, but I went through that section of the law about a year ago. Maybe there's been updates to it but IDK.)
Furthermore, my understanding of the situation is that "illegal" in this context means that the state will not help you if you're ripped off. So it's a weird situation as far as NJ goes, and I don't think there's any good reason to think that my funds aren't safe - or that the state will expend resources to take any further action against Bovada (they sent a letter to WPN at very least asking them to stop.)
Either way I won't stop playing on these sites because then I'd have to get a job (I'm in college, so the income I make playing online poker is better than I would at another - far more boring and less flexible - job.) Not to mention Bovada has the best tournament schedule available to the US market, hands down.

The restriction is on depositing, not what you can play if you have money on an account. If you have funds you can play anything.
