I have often wondered exactly what the AVN expo and awards were like but i have never had the courage to either go or to suggest it to my better half. I still think I want to attend someday but this year I'm out of town so it will have to wait until next year I guess!
Have any of you been? Would you recommend it? Are there naked people there??? :)

I went once. Meh. $80 to go see people who **** for a living. I'd only go again if friends were going. Nobody was naked technically, but pasties and thongs that you see through were on. It was more exciting as a thought or daydream of going to.

Watching porn is one thing, meeting people who do
it is another. Lots of weirdo's in that business, it goes
with the territory. Kind of like carnival folk, only their
teeth are better.

You don't have to go to the actual awards show. Just hang out at the Hard Rock anytime on a weeknight/weekend when it's taking place. Lots of girls hanging out at the bars. A few even play some blackjack/roulette/dice too.

I was actually there last night because I thought that whole thing was going on last week during CES. (I hate big crowds) I didn't know it would be taking place the following week.
Anyway, it was pretty crowded at Hard Rock for a Tuesday night, and it will only get worse until the weekend when it will be jam packed. Screw that though. I'm gonna steer clear until next week.

Sounds stupid to me wanting to meet porn stars just because their only talent is being young stacked and hot, which you can find anywhere. Just wait a few years and they'll come to your home town banging anyone with $500 working as escorts.

Actually I went to the HR today for Mr. Lucky's since I have a comp. Didn't see any pornstars. Some dude asked me, "Hey you know AVN is on today right!", then I said, "What! I just woke up and I am hungry. I didn't know that....." but he probably didn't buy it :(

On my first visit to Vegas my friends and I were just wandering around seeing the different strip casinos. We were walking through the Venetian and found a red carpet with ropes and a big group of people on each side. We walked up and had stumbled upon the entrance walk for the AVN awards. Porn star after scantily clad porn star - some wearing very tight revealing dresses, some in lingerie, some with only duct tape X's over their nipples and thongs - walking down the path. We also saw Larry Flynt roll by in his wheel chair. Everybody was taking pictures and they were all hamming it up - not really unexpected for people of their "profession" I guess though.

What?? You didn't know it was going on? I believe that's when it started, and the casino was probably busier than usual, so I don't buy your excuse either...lol ;)
FWIW, most of girls I saw on Tuesday night weren't that good looking at all. In fact, I'd say 80-90% were just average looking girls with ridiculous boob jobs. Yuck.
But I will say that there were maybe 3-4 girls who were legitimately beautiful. I saw an advertisement with a big picture of some girl named Samantha Saint when I was walking around, and then about 20 minutes later I happened to see her chatting with people at the bar. Yeah, she was hot.

I guess the porn industry is sprinkled with amazing looking women but, for the most part they are stacked (pardon the pun) with some run of the mill, everyday kind of girls, some big, some small, some tall, mostly average. Those are the girls who,l for the most part do all the grunt (man I have to stop it now :) ) work and get very little accolades, not like the top girls who do selected roles and then get honered with a "Woody" at the AVN's......
