In any case, I should be in Vegas around mid-to-late April. I'm aiming for arriving on the 13th and leaving May 1st or so, work permitting.
being there. They terrify me.

The fact that you have fans terrifies me !

That sound you are hearing is made by crickets, not fans. Nothing to be scared of...
Quote: WizardI'll organize it. Feel free to throw out requests for dates and locations. I'm very flexible on dates. For a location, I prefer downtown, namely the Brew House at the Main Street Station.
I request you check your tires ;)

They aren't adoring fans, they're the other
kind.
;-)
(Edit: I typed that before seeing the Wizard's post.)
My wife and I will be in Las Vegas in mid-February and could probably make a return trip sometime later in the first half of the year. Or perhaps in September -- I really don't vote for summer. For trips that involve airline flights, I normally try to plan things a couple of months in advance.
Quote: DocHere's my opinion: since Nareed started the thread, she is the organizer/planner by default. Hey, it has worked fine before!
Did you notice I missed placing lables on the party favors this year? That was a disaster :)
But I'd be willing to plan an unofficial get together for whoever shows up in Vegas at the time.

I guess that rules out April. I'll miss you both. I would love to get up there in February, but given our work tempo that would be utterly impossible. April might be out, too, depending on furhter developments. BTW, I hear Vegas is seriously packed during the Super Bowl weekend, so you may want to avoid it (or not, if you enjoy long wait times and crowds).
I figure some members might be in Vegas at that time to bet on Basketball.
1st big weekend for March Madness is Thursday Mar 20 thru Sunday March 23.
I figure Mon or Tues, Mar 24 or 25 are good dates.
I will be in Vegas Mar 22 to March 27.
Downtown of course. I allways stay downtown. Got a room at the 4 Queens.
Was interested in staying Main St Station but they dont allow Sat checkin and I am arriving Sat.
*Nah, that would be too much work & I'm too lazy...lol
I think I'll start a new thread for the month...
Quote: Beethoven9thI should go there and spy on everyone. Take stealth photos and post them. hehehehe
Just take pics of strangers and put forum
names on them, how would we know the
difference. That would be fun. Find a street
person for s2p, for instance.
I know you are joking about this, and I doubt you would do such things. However, I know some people that are reluctant to attend such events because they are Leary of such things. I would have to go back to the Mission nuggets thread and reread what was said, but someone posted something serious about sneaking around watching the event, for what ever reason. I found that troubling.Quote: Beethoven9thI should go there and spy on everyone. Take stealth photos and post them. hehehehe

Were you referencing the person who masked his presence by dining with a homeless man? I think that was more a show of passive support than something more insidious but I totally understand where you are coming from. I remember reading something someone put where someone had a party at their house and APs walked around with masks on. Either it was an audition for Eyes Wide Shut 2 or people are that stringent about their identity.
There is obviously also the issue with people having personal issues with others but I say bag it and get over it! We are alladults and we can handle ourselves in a respectable manner......I hope :)
If you can't handle yourself respectably then just don't come, don't go to the event, don't even show up at the spot just to lurk in the shadows.
I don't think that is much fun anyway.
Just my opinion of course!

Really??? I must have missed that one because I don't ever remember seeing such a post. Who was it?????????
I should have known someone from this forum would do something s2pid like that...LOL!
works out well. One of my best friends is a guy in
Iowa I met 4 years ago on another forum. We've
never met and we talk in emails every day. We
have a lot in common and I'll probably never meet
him or talk on the phone. And we're very good
friends. Why complicate it with a meeting.
Quote: EvenBobI prefer not to meet people I know online, it never
works out well.
I have had terrible luck with "online friends". I've been shocked. It's an easy-come, easy-go thing, I think. It's made me cautious ever since, including here. But I have decided perhaps I should give it another shot, come this March and the WoV East get-together.

Keysersose (not sure spelling correct) I remember posting somewhere(probably a mcnugget thread) that he attended the mcnugget challenge but he said he did not let any members know he was there and was in a booth with a homeless person.
Could be a joke posting.
pretty weird.
