Check this out, it's awesome, I just found it:

What's cool is there was a, "Mission Casino," and a, "Golden Goose Casino," both on Fremont Street at one time or another. This research paper is ordered by addresses.
The Golden Goose Casino is relevant to me because that is the name of my fictional casino in, "The Ultimate System," I never thought that such an actual casino existed until I went to Vegas and the signage for it is still partially there. My goal was that it would be just such a patently absurd thing to name a casino that no casino ever would deign to call themselves that, guess not!

I laughed about "the mobster in the penthouse" at the El Cortez. I've heard the story. It goes something like this:
When the mob owned the El Cortez they gave an old mob hit man a room for life for being such a good and loyal enforcer. It wasn't until after Jackie bought the place that he was told about the old guy. A few months go by and Jackie decides it's about time for the old guy to pay some rent. He goes up to the room and confronts the guy. The old mobster told Jackie who the real boss around the El Cortez was. And he told Jackie not to ever dun him again....or else.
Jackie is afraid of the guy and doesn't know what to do. So he goes up to the Horseshoe to talk to Benny Binion about it.
"Benny, can you take that old mobster off my hands? Maybe move him up to your place?"
"No, Jackie. I feed him every day. You're gonna have to house him."
The old guy lived in the El Cortez and ate everyday at the Horseshoe for the rest of his life. He lived way up into his late seventies.

They gave him the room because after Bugsy
was killed, he found a suitcase at the Cortez
that had $300K in cash in it that nobody knew
existed. Instead of keeping it, he turned it over
to Meyer Lansky and was rewarded with a room for
life. I believe the El Cortez was owned by Bugsy
at the time. He got the best room on the top floor.
Quote: Mission146You're welcome, stumbled across it trying to figure out what a, "Golden Goose," sign was doing above the Glitter Gulch.
That's why I love Downtown, all the history. I hate
that Binions Cafe closed, that was one of the last
links to the old DT. Golden Gate is pretty much
the same. I'd forgotten Benny Binion invented
the free drink comp for gamblers. It took about
a week and the rest of Vegas was doing it too.
Bless his heart..
