Who are sterotypically the best tippers in a casino?

Older or younger players? Males or females? Rich snobs or working class stiffs? What professions tip well? How about the high rollers?

Now I understand one high roller who tips well might be worth 100+ low rollers to a dealer's bottom line, but if you are working a normal shift as a dealer, what is the sterotype of player that you want at your table?

I've never dealt (other than a few charity events), but from what I've seen as a player the best tipper is a young white working-class male. Better yet if he's drunk and winning a little.

A winner! Probably a slightly inebriated one who wants to impress his girlfriend but any winner will do.

I think people also tend to tip more on tables with higher variance in the payouts. Craps is not legal here in MN, so I'm thinking mostly of BJ and the class III/"California" table games. I hadn't really thought about it, but I usually try to tip a couple times per hour regardless of how I'm doing (impacted slightly by whether or not tips are shared...wouldn't want to stiff any of the dealers if they keep their own tokes). I also tip on big wins if I'm playing LIR, 3card, 4card, Ultimate, or Mississippi Stud. So, as a young working-class white male who may or may not get a little tipsy at the casino, I think as a dealer you probably also want me sitting at an Ultimate table and not at BJ.

Id have to imagine that the best tippers are those who live on tips or used to live off of tips themselves. Time and again Ive seen women who used to be waitresses and moved on tip in restraunts much better the those that have never been a waiter or waitress.

Id think the same applys to a casino- live by the tip die by the tip sort of thing.

Cocktail waitresses tell me that men tip them much better than women. Obviously, the players betting more tend to tip more. Cocktail Doll's website doesn't come right out and spell out who tips well and who doesn't, but a lot of her stories revolve around the topic of tipping.

You are probably right. Just like any salesman will tell you another salesman is the easiest mark out there.

I'll also agree with the "stereotypical white male" being the best tippers. Assuming it all goes well at dealer school I'll get back in this in say October if I remember.

thank you so much for that link- I spent almost two hours reading it- I love blogs from iinteresting people (and Ill admit the pics got my attention too!). Honestly, that was 10 informative and 2- interesting.

I think blogs like these are the best things when you want something of a personal 'reality show' thats realistic. and that makes it fun to read IMO.

we used to have an organ in our house collecting dust. many years later when i asked him where and why he got the organ, he tells me how he went to sell this guy an insurance policy. he doesnt end up selling the guy a policy but ends up coming back with an organ and didnt even know how to play it. he said, "well i guess he was the better salesman."

another interesting story he told me was how he went to sell a policy to this deeply religious man. the man said to him that he didnt think he needed the policy because god would provide for him and his family. my dad responds, "well how do you know god didnt send me here?" a few days later, the man calls him back after considering what he said and decides to buy the policy.
