I'm hearing december, but it SOUNDS like February might be the best time
If I do it in 12/12, then the card would only be good until 3/13
If I do it in 2/13, then the card would be good until 3/14
?
I already know all the other specifics...$30k coin-in is not too hard playing dollar VP.
I mainly just want it for the free rooms from Harrah's properties (I know not HIGHER end, but like Rio and stuff)
As The Wiz noted "if you earn DIAD, it is best to do it at the start of the year to get the most benefit. Total Rewards levels earned through DIAD/PIAD are valid until March 31 of the following year"

Also, some days Harrahs has Multiplier etc.... They won't make you earn the status faster but you will earn more comps if you do this on a multiplier day.
Diamond is not worth it. I get more Direct Bet coupons, food and room offers now then when I was Diamond.
Think twice about trying to become Diamond.

Yea, I'm pretty much the same thing.
It was VERY handy 5 years ago to be a Diamond member, as I planned a Family re-union in Vegas for after my bro's wedding in California and booked 4 comped rooms in 4 different CET properties(Harrah's ET at the time). My father and I were both Diamond members with a combined 60,000 credits, so we booked 2 rooms each for 2 nights(Sun & Mon) at Ballys and Flamingo. I also booked one room for me & my GF at the time at Caesars and another backup room at Rio.
There were no problems at check-in and both my Father and I got the 4 rooms with no prob. Caesars required a $100 cash deposit(because of the holds on my other 2 credit cards), but it was worth it as the room at Caesars was WAY better than the Flamingo or Ballys rooms.
When I returned home though, I got an e-mail from a Harrah's manager stating "I was not permitted to book more than one comped room on the same nights and they comped me the extra rooms as a favor"
But I really think they didn't realize the double booking until after I checked out, and to save face they had to comp it while sending a "shame on you" email for exploiting our mistake!
Since then though, I've been letting my tier level drop to platinum and now gold, yet still getting decent room comps in AC and some Direct bet and slot play coupons in the mail.
I noticed last year, maintaining a Platinum status got me no direct bets or slot coupons, yet letting it drop to Gold for this year has gotten me more Direct Bets. So I doubt going for Diamond would increase offers that much and can't find much reason to bother.
That makes even my 35 days look like an amateur move.
Lots of other interesting/useful info on his site, as well.
I found $ 8/5 Bonus Poker at Lake Tahoe, which will keep me happy, so I will do DIAD, then possibly over the course of 2013, give them $10k per month to maintain it, simply for the free rooms.
Quote: TIMSPEEDI am SOLELY doing this for the free weekend nights at Harrah's properties...(Mainly Rincon, Lake Tahoe, and Las Vegas)

If you are going to give them $10k a month to maintain it, make sure you play it all in one day at one casino. If you can maintain a $10k per day average you will get great offers from Harrah's.
About six years ago I noticed they were storing players ADT in the HTML code when you went to their website. I wish I had kept that information to myself instead of publishing it online. I miss seeing my ADT, 90 day ADT, and annual ADT.

That's the plan...DIAD first ($30k in one day) then a maintanence dose of $10k once a day per month. (technically $120k coin in, when it only takes $110k)

Diamond is not worth it.
I think Diamond IS worth it if you live in Las Vegas. With all the CET properties in town, access to the Diamond Lounges is a nice way to entertain out-of-state visitors, Diamond members get 2 free show tickets per month (or reduced rates for the more popular shows), and don't forget the free gifts at holiday time with the Great Gift Wrap-up, not to mention free entry into Summerfest and Winterfest tournies.
If you live in town and like to gamble, why not do it at the places that pay you back something? If you're not in town, then it's not going to gain you much but skipping the lines at registration and buffets. Gary Loveman has always had a backward way of gaining customers. He gives the best offers of free rooms to the tourists who haven't visited in a while to get them to return to the property. He figures "why give the free rooms to our best customers? They're already loyal!"

CET isn't the only one using this philosophy, Trump Entertainment and Resorts seem to have adopted this policy as well. In AC anyway.
Makes it even worse to be a middle-tier player as it seems they're catering more to Johnny come latelys who sign for Gold cards and don't come back for a year!
Quote: WizardI could be wrong about this, but wouldn't January 1 be the best time? Because you get it for all of that calendar year, and the status will carry over the next year as well, for two full years.
It did it January 2nd a few years ago, but only because there was a 7X multiplier; which made the play decent. (especially on full pay VP)

If you can get a peak at the computer screen, or find a nice host; you can still find out "most" of those data-points.
