I booked a room at Vegas Club for the weekend of December 17th. I just got a call that they moved my booking to The Plaza because they will be renovating the rooms at the Vegas Club during that time. From what I can tell The Plaza's rooms are comparable but haven't stayed at either. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks.

I've never stayed at either, but I know that they renovated the Plaza's hotel last year. I'd imagine (hope?) that staying at the recently updated Plaza would be better than staying at the about-to-be-updated Vegas Club.

I think I remember reading somewhere that train noise is a problem in the Plaza's rooms.

You should thank the god of your parents choice that they moved you. The Plaza is definately not the Wynn but it is much nicer than it once was and I cannot imagine that the Vegas Club is even close to being as nice. The furniture is very nice and brand new. They definately cut some corners but I don't think that you will be dissapointed. I was on the 16th floor and had a balcony facing downtown but noticed no noise.

Vegas Club's hotel only has one tower open, and it is only open on weekends. If the reservations at Plaza + Vegas Club do not fully occupy Plaza, they will not even open the Vegas Club hotel. They will just bump everyone to Plaza which is an upgrade.
I would be willing to wager that the casino floor will go through the same thing that Plaza did. In other words, I predict it will close for a massive remodel in the next year or so. They laid off half of their staff in 4Q 2011. The way Tamares handled Plaza, and closed down Western, I think it is a fair prediction that there are bigger plans for Vegas Club than being arguably the lowest end property downtown.
