what's the old saying? "In our Household, the money I make is *our* money. But the money my wife makes is *her* money. "
Quote: FleaStiffOkay. I've just learned that Rampart offers 100x odds at craps and seems to be a more upscale place than the Eastside Cannery with its 100x at craps but I'm undecided.
Just for the record,
The Eastside Cannery is now at only 20x odds on their craps tables.
Quote: teddysCannery-Original Recipe is still at 100x. This was confirmed by phone call to their table games pit on 12/24/10.
The websites specifically say 10X for original Cannery, 20X for Eastside cannery, and 100x Odds ($5,000 maximum) at Rampart. This policy appears to be in flux, since they stated different odds last week.
Eastside Cannery has quite a few low cost dining options within a few miles. You can walk to Sam's Town next door as well. But it is a decidedly low cost area compared to Rampart and the Resort at Summerlin (which is considered one of the best areas in Vegas).
The Resort at Summerlin started out trying to be the finest resort in all of Vegas when it was built by a Swiss company. They lost their shirt and eventually sold out. Under Marriot management it is still a 4 diamond resort, but the grounds are very luxurious.
Anyway, its nice to learn that casino policies are in flux because that atleast shows they are trying to fine tune their operations in hard times.
They probably changed it since I called then. They may be trying to funnel serious craps players to Rampart, or, alternatively, hedging their bets that no serious craps players will venture out there.Quote: pacomartinThe websites specifically say 10X for original Cannery, 20X for Eastside cannery, and 100x Odds ($5,000 maximum) at Rampart. At one point it was 100X at all three casinos.

I think we all agree that the huge free odds are mostly advertising. If players in the off-strip locations were relentlessly taking advantage of free odds, you would expect to see lower win percentages from the craps tables since much of the drop would be gambled at no advantage to the casino.
Just the opposite is true, the win percentage at craps is lower on the strip then elsewhere. That would imply one of two things:
1) the off strip players are more naive and taking more proposition bets
2) the strip players don't spend as much time at the tables as the "off strip" players
Personally, I would guess that hypothesis #1 is the dominant reason.
Las Vegas Strip 11.59%
Balance of county 15.26%
Boulder strip 14.77%
Mesquite 17.91%
Laughlin 16.21%
North Las Vegas 19.14%
However, as I said before, these baccarat players that are risking thousands of dollars per hand would be a whole lot better off playing free odds at craps.
My guess is that the off strip casinos advertize the huge odds, since they attract gamers with some money. They have a bad run at playing max free odds, get frustrated, and try their luck at proposition bets.

I wouldn't, because one bet would then eat up 5/6ths of my bankroll.
But I would bet 10x odds on a hot shooter, maybe as much as 20x if I'm winning. Or lay odds if playing the don't. I'd also like to hang around the Rampart's craps tables one day and see if someone makes a 100x bet. For a high roller making, say, $500 line bets with 3,4,5x odds, it would make more sense to bet $10 to $25 with 100x odds.
