The casino has a nice vibe to it. It will have a lack of $10 tables on the weekends, at least that is how it was in '08 and '09.
I have not gone to any of the clubs so I can't comment on them. I did see a first there last year though. A guy was causing trouble at the club, and was really resisting. Eventually two really large security boys put him into a two arm lock, and had his feet about 6" off the floor. They proceeded to walk him through the casino in this fashion. I don't think he was getting the escort to the front door, as that was in the other direction. Napoleon's Piano Bar is a must do if you have extra time. We had a blast in there a couple of nights.
There are some good food choices in Paris, and with the connection to Bally's, there is plenty to see and do inside, in the event of inclement weather.
Thus far I've stayed at Flamingo for the vast majority of my trips, in the past because it was cheap, and then free, and also familiar (also I enjoy the "retro" feel haha). If I can get a room at Flamingo with a decent view (I qualify for a "GO Luxury with View" there) I might actually prefer that over a "nicer" room at Paris with a view of a wall or facing backwards from the strip. I qualify for up to the "Premier" level room at Paris.
Any thoughts appreciated!
Quote: AcesAndEightsI'm thinking about it as I have never stayed at Paris before, and my gut feeling is that it is a "level up" in terms of niceness compared to the 4 hotels mentioned above.
Just about everything on the Strip is a level up from the Quad/IP
I would say Paris is a half-step up from Bally's, which is itself a half-step up from Harrah's and Flamingo. Paris is easily the nicest of those hotels, but the view at Flamingo could be worth it I suppose.
I'm a little jealous! I just looked at my own TR offers, and nothing is free or even all that cheap for me. Time to head to AC to show some play, I guess!
Quote: BozWe have stayed at either Paris or PH for years. Paris is almost a tale of 2 hotels as the older rooms are showing their age. The Red Rooms, with or without a view are updated and have nice bathrooms. Both the old rooms and the Red Rooms have both a shower and a tub. Hard to believe, but the regular rooms still have tube TV's. Both rooms come with or without a view, but the Red Rooms are on the higher floors. The food choices late at night at Paris are weak and that is some of the reason why we have stayed at PH recently. If view is important and you can assure yourself a Go Room with a Strip View, you are probably better off than a Premier room at Paris. The Paris room will be older and probably on a lower floor. But you are in a nicer overall property and it attracts a older crowd. That said, I often go over the Flamingo to play BJ because the $25 table is less crowded at Flamingo and tends to get better players that dont annoy me. Also Paris does not have a poker room, but you are connected to Ballys without going outside. if there is anything else I can help with, just let me know.
Thanks for the info Boz. I can get a Red Room as well as a Premier room comped, but the Premier rooms show up lower down the list, so I just assumed they were nicer. What I'm getting from you is that the Red Rooms are nicer, recently updated, and on higher floors. I think I will go for that and hope I get a view, if not it's not a big deal. Just branching out to a new property will be nice, and I don't really care about the crowd/food options/gambling options at the specific hotel where I'm staying, since I will be walking all over the place anyway :).
Quote: rdw4potusFrom higher floors, the view "backwards" from Paris is actually kind of nice. Of course, forwards you're looking directly at the Bellagio fountains...

I'm honestly not sure why I'm qualifying for free rooms at this level. I made Platinum last year, but on my last trip to Vegas for the HB weigh-in, I specifically didn't give CET a ton of action because I wanted to start getting mailers from downtown properties, under the assumption I could start getting free rooms there for a lower expected loss.
I'm guessing getting Platinum itself gets you a higher level of free rooms, regardless of your play? But if you're already Platinum or Diamond, I don't know what to tell you. Apparently Gary really wants my drunken late-night dice action :).
Quote: DRichIf I am not mistaken, the Premiere rooms have nice views. The Red Rooms are all updated. The Red Room premiere are the ones you want if you can get it.
I don't see a "Red Room Premier" in the list...just "Premier" and "Red Room Luxury."

it might not be comped for you or they are sold out that weekend, but they do exist and are shown on the Paris website.

Ah I see it now. Yep, looks to be completely booked for my dates, and also not comped when it IS available. Thanks for the extra info.
Quote: teddysParis, no question. Take the highest you can get. You never know when they are going to cut you off. (Says the guy now on Harrah's "shit list.")
The expert has spoken! BTW, how did you get on their shit list? I don't recall this coming up on your radio spot. Just used too many comps without giving them any action?
Dunno I kind of get off and on the list a lot. I have a feeling most of it's done by computer. Even on their shit list, I still was able to get a week at IP for about $15/night and 5 nights at Flamingo at $8.75/night. That's pretty close to free.Quote: AcesAndEightsThe expert has spoken! I have been comp'd stays at Paris about 6 times now. On one of the trips I selected the Red Room. I will never select it again. I did not enjoy it AT ALL. Neither did my wife. In my opinion, it was a step down from our usual room. I have not had a tube tv in years, so I am not sure what level room I am getting, but I thought it was just the standard room. On our new years trip, the room we got had a 40" flatscreen mounted on the wall. First time I had seen that.
I agree with everything Boz said. Def step up from Bally's and Flamingo, but late night food options suck. I have not stayed at PH, so I have no input there.
Not completely sure, but I 'think' you can stay at Paris, eat at PH, and charge it to your Paris room.
Is the pizza/bakery or the pastry/bakery open 24 hours? I enjoy the options at both those places when they are open. Is the cafe even open 24 hours? They have to have at least one 24 hour option or they can't call themselves a casino resort.Quote: RaleighCrapsI agree with everything Boz said. FWIW, I find the food options at Flamingo pretty horrible. The food court is just terrible. You can walk across to IP and get a pretty decent Korean meal at Ginseng 3, but they are pricey. However, the coffee they sell at the coffee stands in the hotel (Java Detour?) is absolutely the BEST coffee I've ever had. Loved getting that in the mornings.
Bally's has Nosh which is open late-ish, I think. Burger Brasserie is open to 12, maybe? Of course P-ho has a ton of options both in the hotel and in the Miracle Mile Shops.
Edit: I see Sugar Factory is open 24 hours. Interesting that they would make that their 24-hour option. Never had the chance to eat there (didn't feel like going into a diabetic coma).
