"...the Strip’s biggest player, MGM Resorts International, just began a $450 million total remake of the 2,700 room resort formerly known as the Monte Carlo into a luxury resort called Park MGM, which will include yet another hotel-within-hotel concept, a 292-room spin-off of very popular New York City lifestyle hotel the NoMad."
All I know about Monte Carlo is that it had one of the worst Strip Buffets.
When they first opened up it was the talk of the town. They actually had a big bank of $1 FPDW and a good cash card. Machines were locked up around the clock, did well and it was kinda fun. They also had a $100 JOB 9/6 $500,000 for the Royal.Quote: JohnnyQhttp://www.forbes.com/sites/larryolmsted/2016/10/19/three-new-las-vegas-resorts-heat-up-a-new-part-of-the-strip/#56f43eec26d2

I know I'm out of the loop so to speak, but what is the artistic value in those tree roots on the ceiling?
Yeah, I don't get that either.Quote: NokTangI know I'm out of the loop so to speak, but what is the artistic value in those tree roots on the ceiling?

This kind of looks like they are going for a Jumanji theme.
If I walked in, saw that and heard jungle drums beating I'd be heading for Bellagio.
Any updates on how things are going at this newly rebranded casino?

What do you want to know?
Rooms are basically all renovated at this point. The front of the casino is a huge mess, under complete construction. You can only enter and exit from the sides. Pools are open now; no more lazy river or wave pool. Just your standard 3.5 foot puddles now. Spa is still under construction.

Is construction done?
Can I enter and exit in the front?
How is the sports book area? New and updated?
Will Eataly have a soft opening? Official open Dec 27.
Looking forward to staying here
Eataly was good (although, the prices are a bit high) and the Asian restaurant La La Noodle makes a mean General Tso's chicken
Definitely a big upgrade from Monte Carlo and alls taff I encountered were friendly and helpful and raved about working there
Quote: boymimboGiven the stigma around the MB shootings, I wonder if a plan to rebrand Mandalay Bay is next. They successfully turned TheHotel into Delano, and now that MB is infamous, I wonder if, given its location and its very large convention center whether some kind of name change and theme change would work.
The MB has already gotten so many requests from sickos for that room that they've sealed it off forever.
If I wanted a room just for it's notoriety I"d try to book the Rain Man suite at Caesars.
Quote: aceofspadesI stayed there in February - was very nice - the high limit room is gorgeous with a stained glass ceiling (not sure if it really lets in sunlight as I doubt the great outdoors is directly above so it is probably artificially lit)
On their website it says the only game available in the high limit room is blackjack. That can't be right... No roulette? No baccarat?
I actually liked the western gold rush theme of the basement of the old Monte Carlo Vegas, where you'd get off the tram, bizarre and out of place as it was for a casino that took the name of the Casino de Monte-Carlo in Monaco.
What's going on with that tram from T.I. to Mirage to Bellagio to Monte Carlo anyway? Will it ever get back to running?

The Mirage-TI tram is back up and running. It has never gone to Bellagio.

"In each of 2004 and 2003, the
Company paid Monte Carlo $4 million as a result of closing the tram between
Bellagio and Monte Carlo in preparation for the Bellagio expansion. "
As I recall, you used to be able to ride a tram all the way from T.I. to Monte Carlo. Not exactly sure what happened at Bellagio or if you could get off at that stop, but I do recall getting off at Monte Carlo and starting at T.I.
Or maybe you could ride the tram from T.I. to Mirage then walked a bit, then rode the tram from Bellagio to Monte Carlo.
Quote: MDawgSo the old tram that got off in the basement of the Monte Carlo, and this was before City Center existed, where did that tram come from?

Years ago, the tram ran from Bellagio to Monte Carlo, and it does again, with an intermediate stop now in City Center. Just rode that (southbound only) during the Spring Fling visit. The boarding station at Bellagio is back down the hall past the conservatory, past the chocolate factory and a bunch of other businesses, then up the escalator.
I don't see how you could ride from T.I. to Bellagio (or to Monte Carlo). Seems that Caesars Palace would be quite a bit in the way.

This is right. You have to walk past Caesars. No way the mgm shuttles run through that property.
