I've visited Vegas 3-4 times and 2 of those I stayed at the Flamingo. I have to say I will always look first there for the value you get. OK, the place is a little older, almost "anchient" in LV time. But this is still a 4-star place. You are pretty mich in the middle of the strip and can walk to the great buffet at Bellagio or any number of places in Caesars alace in minutes.

I stayed at the Flamingo in July 2009 as well as November 2008. Both experiences were pleasant. The room rates were fair, the restaruants were good and there is a good variety of machines and table games.

The rooms in both cases were nice. Not fancy, but not run down either. All the staff that I had contact with were very nice. The poker room is small, but has a 3 or 4 tournaments every day. If you want to waste some time during the day playing poker, it's fine. If you want some serious play go elsewhere. Sahara and Planet Hollywood Tournaments are a much better value, but if you like to stay and play in one casino, the Flamingo is a pretty good choice.

I'd give it 7 out of 10 stars.

I stayed at the Flamingo from March 7 through the 11, 2010. We had a mini-suite. Although the accomodations were clean, many of the little things were wrong. Lights were out in the entrance and the bathroom had the mood lighting out. Harrah's properties in general seem to not be being maintained like they have been in the past. We like the Flamingo because of its location on the strip. It is not pushed far back like other casinos and has a Metro stop. I usually play BJ at $25 a hand and the tables were not filled. Overall the trip was good. I would stay at the Flamingo again. I have stayed at the MGM, Bellegio, TI, and Sands in the past. The location of the Flamingo makes it good for me.

Problems at the Flamingo.

On my last trip I stayed at three different hotels. The Aria, Hilton, and the Flamingo.

Two of them were good, as usual. (Although the closing of the buffet at the Hilton in the middle of the day doesn't make sense, but it's the Hilton and it's poorly managed, so what do you expect.)

My big problem was with the Flamingo. It's turning into a toilet and is smelling like it as well. Basically, it's turning into The Imperial Palace.
My first room was on the older side of the hotel, since the new side was full. When I first entered the room, the smell of air freshener was extremely strong and smelled like the kind of freshener that's used in a cheap gas station somewhere in a LV 7-11 men's restroom. (Lysol with Cinnamon?) I figured the smell would largely dissipate, while I played during the day and the first part of the night. However, later that night, when I returned to the room, the smell was still there. As a matter of fact, it seemed stronger. Every time the fan came on with the air conditioner, it was even more robust. In my room's restroom it was so strong that my eyes would water when I was in there. Finally, I called down to the front desk and they sent someone up. (Meanwhile, I attempted to put on my goggles and tried to put a snorkel out the window so I could breath, but the window wouldn't open. :) The hotel associate concurred that the smell was strong, but that it was like that in many of the rooms on that side of the hotel. After leaving the room, my clothing smelled like I had worn the airfreshener as a cologne.

The front desk kindly arranged for another room, so I changed rooms at 3:00 am. This time they put me in a meeting room. Inside the room was a large conference table with roughly eight chairs around it and a fold down bed. The room didn't smell, but I could feel every spring and wire in the bed. The area behind the bed was beat up and full of debris, dirt, etc. The bed was also completely worn out as though it was an original bed from the 1940s. When the air conditioning turned on, it would make a horrible sound as though the compressor didn't want to turn and as though a small animal was being electrocuted each time.

Despite the horrendous shape of the rooms, the staff was very friendly, but I will never stay here again.

We've stayed at the Flamingo twice this year. The room quality didn't leave a good impression, but we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. (Wake up, pool, shower, go out, and return intoxicated in the evening)

The pool, location and monorail stop were the only reasons we stayed there. There were no big glaring problems, like smells or noise. But it was in a bit of disrepair, with paint flaking, rusting fixtures, and crown molding falling off. Nothing major, but in need of a renovation.

I would still recommend it for the pool. We live in a part of the country without a lot of sunny days, and no water parks within driving distance. But we would never stay there in the winter.

Someone just had a Flaming O "Go Room" experience that involved a tv-remote without batteries, an uncleaned toilet and a smear of blood on a bathroom towel. The person who encountered the unhygienic Go Room at the Flaming O had previously stayed at The Sahara where she found the rooms to be spotless.

The Sahara is closing, the Flamingo is not.

Well, the whole place is being run into the ground despite all those ads about GO room renovations. The casino is full of hookers, the hallways and sidewalk areas are filthy, ... so what difference does it make if they quote low priced rooms. Its a dump.

I was in the Trop in 2007 and left almost immediately. The
low mirrored ceilings, the terrible smoke, the crowding,
and the felt on the roulette tables were almost growing
moss on them from all the drink spills. The whole place
smells and screams 1977.

I stayed in Oct 2011, and I had same observation. I snagged a discounted room with a promotional code and I rolled the dice hoping I'd get one of the renovated rooms. I didn't. It was really, really bad. In the end after enough complaining I did get a couple of nights comped, so they tried to make it right.

The thing is the location is among the best there is. I'm looking ahead to a Fall 2013 trip and in light of the fact that they've completed their renovations (at least I think so), I'm considering giving them another shot.

Has anyone stayed in 2012? Are the new FAB rooms adequate? Have the casino, poker room, and sports book areas been freshened up? Would you recommend another shot?

I think the poker room has "been freshened up" to the point that it is closed. Thread link.

Doc -

That thread is about the Tropicana.

The poker room at the Flamingo is very much alive.

That confused me too, especially since the title is just "hotel." I guess I never noticed it before, but that appears to be the case for ALL of the sticky threads about the hotel at a given casino. I wonder if they could be renamed in a "Property - hotel" format so that it makes more sense when we click through from the recent threads list.

I stayed in the new FAB rooms last trip (comped), and they were really nice. It's worth another shot.

The Flamingo is nasty and gross! I read some of the other posters comments about the staff: The staff is friendly.

The rooms are terrible, the room service food is terrible, the place is old and resembles the Imperial Palace. In fact, I think I would rather stay at the Imperial Palace rather than Flamingo. For those of you not part of Total Rewards-you can't beat the cheap room rates. With that said, the only nice place Caesars Inc. has to offer is Caesars Palace and Planet Hollywood. I am strongly considering making the switch to Mlife...probably when the new year rolls around.

Flamingo is a tale of 2 hotels. The GO Rooms are nice and modern. The FAB rooms were a cheap makeover and the "classic" rooms are a mess. I strongly suggest spending the extra for a GO Room or stay at Paris or PH. Caesars is the same with rooms of all qualities.

I have to defend the Flamingo here. I've stayed at the Flamingo the last three or four Super Bowl trips that I've done. I haven't had a negative experience. A room is a room and if it's free, it's for me. Last February, I actually paid for the room for five nights because I didn't want to feel obligated to gamble (I gambled there anyway) and I got a Fab Deluxe View Room. The view really is pretty spectacular.

I recommend it. It's cheap and in the center of the strip. You're not going to find a bargain like the Flamingo anywhere else.

I agree with this sentiment. Recently I've been lucky enough to get the GO rooms comped, but I've stayed in the Fab rooms before I played as much and not been disappointed for the price (free). I don't think I've actually ever stayed in one of the "classic" rooms - don't remember it even coming up in the reservation system.

Last trip we stayed in Flamingo for 2 nights and IP for 3. We booked a FAB room online and they tried to put us in a classic room (which you can no longer reserve online I think). The classic room was really run down, and we asked to be switched right away. The FAB room is a major improvement over the classic room, even if the makeover is a bit "cheap". Flamingo FAB was a better room than IP, where we had to move from our first room because our ceiling was starting to collapse due to flooding from above...doh

Per a previous post on this thread, I stayed at Flamingo in Oct. 2011. My classic room was awful but we LOVED the location. Because of that we're going back this October. Using a F&F promo code I could've gotten a Fab Deluxe for $300/4 nights or a GO room for $420/4 nights (not counting taxes and new resort fees). I went with the GO room. I'm assuming that was a no brainer given the modest price difference.

When we were there they were working on the sports book. Hoping that and the poker room are a few notches higher than they were.

I'll add a new review. Just got back from 3 nights in a fab room. I was comped 90% of it (valentines I paid like 30 bucks) the rooms were fine . Bathtub is a little dated , but the vinyl floors and room were fine . I was barely awake in my room and slept about 4:45 hours a night. I was given a side room on the 14th floor. No problems at all. Easy self check in (early! 2:00) hotel grounds , tables and food court are solid. AND THE LOCATION KEEPS ME COMKNG BACK . Easy to exit flamingo and be at Cromwell, linq or even ceasars , Venetian or bellagio in a matter of minutes . It is what it is a VALUE HOTEL at one of the best spots/views on the strip . Looking at my platinum comps on upcoming months calendars I can get a free go or fab room about 25 days a month with the occasional busy weekend that I can pay a little (70-80) or the weekends I will avoid (150-200 per night) . If you need plush, perfect , refined hotel stays, CHOOSE SOMETHING ELSE.

I liked the staff and it was a great stay ! Fair table limits , enough open, great drink service and smiling faces (also at Cromwell where I played a lot )
