Bed over and grab your ankles people!

Edit- Golden Gate too.
I'm stumped.
Quote: KeyserSozeCan't be long before Golden Nugget starts charging a $15-$20 resort fee in addition to their $5 Fremont Street Experience fee.
Golden Nugget caved. I stayed there two weeks ago. They no longer charge the FSE fee.
Instead they charge a "Downtown Destination" fee.
It was still $5, but at least now it's not like you're paying for something other people get for free. Nope. You're paying to get nothing in return. But at least it's more vague so it becomes harder to argue. At least that's what the front desk clerk told me...
Quote: KeyserSozeThe statement reads "Our resort fee will enable us to offer lower room rates........."
For 10$, we can offer you a handy coupon book photocopy, that includes up to 5$ off in room discounts!
not charging them. Its crap compared to 10
years ago.

But if you look at the weekdays immediately starting after fee enforcement, room rates immediately dropped $20. They are still dinging you a bit on the weekends, but that statement doesn't look to be total BS in the short-term. I'm okay with a $20 fee if my room rate actually drops $20. But it's pretty sad I now have a night booked at the Quad where the fee is higher than the room price ($15 vs. $14.24)

I wouldn't put much weight on rates for August and September.
Overall the statement about lower rates and a resort fee bring to mind the old cartoon robot cliche "Does.Not.Compute."

Thanks for pointing that out. I did not know that.
I assumed the statement was similar to the bullsh*t that came from Caesars Entertainment "we are initiating resorts fees because our customer demanded them." Or some crap like that.
It will be interesting to see if The D's room rates remain $20 lower or if they slowly creep back to pre-resort fee levels.
Is there really a huge demand for wi-fi among their trailer park clientele?
Blaming it on the other properties that actually do offer amenities is weak.

Definitely better than CETs reasoning of "our customers want this".

Agreed, lol.
Quote: NareedDo any of the deathtrap motels often featured in CSI have free WiFi and no resort fees? ;)
I've never seen CSI, but I'll try to imagine. I don't know, possibly they could charge a resort fee for wiping the blood off the bedspread?
Quote: gpac1377I've never seen CSI,
I don't believe you :P
Still, I think the stock deathtrap motel is used in other shows and some movies.

Maybe. Or for having 911 on speed dial? ;)

.
Yes, even this slice of the market now has mobile phones with internet. They like the free porn so I'm told.
Quote: s2dbakerThe El Cortez is still resort fee free, no? I'm planning a trip for National Finals Rodeo week.
Still no resort fee at El Cortez. Hope it stays that way.
