Edit: I just want to make sure I'm not buying a product I can get for free. Are these automatically given out for new member sign ups?
Quote: BeardgoatMy wife and I are going to vegas in March. We have never enrolled in the Cosmo players card program. I see on ebay that people are selling $25 slot play for roughly $6-10.... Can anyone tell me how these coupons are given out? If I purchase some coupons on ebay, one for me and one for her, am I going to have any issues redeeming them for slot play at Cosmo when we sign up? Seems like a pretty easy AP move.

Are you going to be staying at the Cosmopolitan?
I looked on EBay and I believe you're referring to this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cosmopolitan-Hotel-Casino-Las-Vegas-25-slot-free-play-card-and-more-/231485143223?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35e596f8b7
That looks to me like a coupon package you would get upon checking into a room, so if you're going to be staying there, then there's no reason to buy that. If you're not going to be staying there, then just the $25 Free Play is +ER (which is good, because the rest of the coupons blow) so I would say it could be worth getting unless you want to hold out for a better promotion.
I checked the Cosmopolitan's website for Promotions, and the only thing they have on there is some jive-ass slots tournament, so I don't think they're necessarily giving these coupons to everyone...I'd lay 2-1 that it's a package hotel guests get.
Edit: I initially thought this must be something the guests received upon check in. But it makes absolutely no sense for people not to have used the coupon if they were already at the hotel. I could understand a few people not using the coupon, but there seems to be quite a few coupons available
Quote: BeardgoatI am not staying there. After some additional research it looks like this is part of a package from united airlines. People who flew to Las Vegas got that assortment of coupons from the Cosmo. I could be wrong but I believe that's what the package is from.
You're an honorable guy for not taking up my action on my hotel guest speculation.

That thought had entered my mind, but then I'd have laid 3:1, otherwise.
You'd be surprised the kind of crap that people forget to do, in terms of value. Everyone that checks into the hotel and says they are going to the nearest casino I have told they can go to the Player's Club and get $20 Free Play, per person, if they've not signed up before. Win or lose, only half of the people actually end up doing it when I follow up with them about it. It makes no sense, they're not going out of their way, that casino IS their destination.
Quote: BeardgoatThere are also 2 for 1 coupons to wicked spoon which is a big $$$ saver. Not sure if that's what the wife wants to eat though
I saw $31-$60 and was about to remark that the biggest $$$ saver is not eating there, but then I saw a picture of their dessert spread...yeah, that's a good cost saver!

What are the dates? I might have something for you.
Generally; I am getting great comps from Cosmo; I only played there 1 day for about 6 hours, red chip on craps for 4 hours, 2 hours green chip PGP, a couple minor slots. Took about 6 months but getting all sorts of rooms, free play, concert tix. I would encourage anybody interested to start a relationship with them for what I think are the best per hour comps I'm seeing in Vegas this past year.

What kind of red chip on Craps, straight PL + Odds?

And a constant stream of tokes. I think her name is really Barbara George.
Just curious 'cause when I used my 3 nights offer in October at TI it is now down graded to 2 nights with paid third... That's got to be the worst comp offer i have heard about on this site so far. 90% of my play was in TI usually buying in for $400 twice a day. Mostly $15 PL+odds and $60 Place bets 6&8. I even charged as much to the room as i could to "give them something to work with" as a comp at the end and got NO love. My jaw dropped when the Guest Services attendant said they could give me $5 in slot play... WTF? One possibility is i skewed the results by poking away at a .25 slot machine with my players card just to keep off the table and mid-day for a break.

We will be there March 19-21
Took about 2 months, started getting buy 2 nights reduced, get a 3rd one. Didn't bite. After 6 months, started getting 2 nights plus free play (a larger amount than CET or anyone else has offered lately, and I dump a LOT more time/money at CET than that) every 6 weeks, no restrictions on dates. Have accepted those twice now, including next week.
They are really great there; I recommend them highly. Parking is perfect, with indications of which spots are open (lights over the stalls), easy transition from parking to either east or west tower rooms, fantastic rooms (I think everyone has a balcony/view), lots of eye candy, lots of places to settle with a drink. Easy check-in/check-out, even by phone if you want. If they're the new Vegas, they're doing it right.
Quote: beachbumbabsI was betting 2 way $10 PL, 2x odds 5-6-8-9, 1x odds 4-10, 2 way place 6/8 for $12, $5 tall/small ("all" felt like throwing money away). Table was running hot, and I won tall/small twice in a couple hours. If 6/8 was the point, I moved that place bet to 5 or 9. Was a $10 minimum table. I walked away up about $200-250 (even after being an extreme George), gave most of that back after dinner playing another hour and excused myself to Doc, went to PGP.
I certainly don't have any problem with being a super George.....but I have to ask, why do you tip that much?
Granted, most people who tip a whole bunch are either dealers themselves...or are super wealthy, play for fun, and figure they may as well give dealers a bunch of money. You don't strike me as being either of those two types of people.
If I read your post correctly, every bet you make, you put the dealers up for the same amount? If so, the only time you're actually winning from the PL is when a point number has been made, and then you only win the extra on the odds ($20 odds you'll either profit $4, $10 on 6859 and $10 odds will win you $10 on 4/10). With place bets, kinda the same thing, except you don't have to keep putting the dealers up on them (unless they take them down when they hit). Hard ways are hard enough to win on....now you're basically reducing the payouts to something like 4.5:1 and 3.5:1. All tall/small/all, well, I have to assume that's the only way you can actually leave the table ahead.
As dealers would say, you're "a strong player".
i will give them a session or two if i get out this year.

That was the second time I'd ever played craps and I wanted the dealers to keep me from embarrassing myself as a newbie, which they did very well. I considered it tuition. I've played a couple of times since and backed off quite a bit on the tipping, but still keep them in somewhere. When I get really comfortable with the game, I'll back off even more on the tipping. But not completely.
And no, the 2-way was reds for me, white for them. 1 PL, 1 behind, 1 each 6/8 and press those until they got to $6, then let them work.
Quote: BeardgoatI got a response from a seller and I can verify that these came from a United Flight. I snatched up 2 at $6 each so I'm up about $38 already haha. There are also 2 for 1 coupons to wicked spoon which is a big $$$ saver. Not sure if that's what the wife wants to eat though
Yeah. If you take United to Las Vegas, the flight attendant will give each passenger one package. I believe you can ask for more (not sure).
I always throw it away, never used. I don't like Cosmo, not any part of it.
That's a great deal, I see some going for $25+ on eBay.Quote: BeardgoatI got a response from a seller and I can verify that these came from a United Flight. Quote: JohnnyQSo, anyone recall what the Wicked Spoon Buffet price is for lunch or dinner ? thx
Around $40 for dinner.
"McBeath was once the president of Treasure Island, the Mirage, Bellagio and CityCenter. The Cosmopolitan sits between the latter two and is one of their main competitors.
But fighting for the same high-end customers as his former employers isn’t awkward for McBeath. It’s fun, he said.
“It’s just like playing a pickup basketball game now,” he said, only “the stakes are a little higher.” "
