This year, as I look at their rate calendar, there is very little I can get comped, weekend or not. I can get IP free basically anytime except extreme blackouts. Harrah's and Bally's are usually free during the week, though weekends are higher. Rio and Flamingo are basically the same thing. But Paris, Caesars and PH are all rates, all the time. I actually played more this past year than I ever have before, although it was a lot of 9-6 JoB at HSI and I logged a lot of action at Tiles.
I'm debating about talking to a host at HSI. I don't have one, but I still get rooms there free whenever, as that's my "home property" and I travel 3.5 hours to play there. I really would like Caesars again, especially given my birthday, but would be happy for a decent rate at Paris or even Bally's (although I've stayed there and didn't care for it all that much). I'm just wondering if anybody else has noticed a change, or if it's just me.
>29 and 12 month birthday ....
confused me. Then I figured it out. You must be female and approaching that Big 30 mark but are not going to be dragged across it kicking and screaming: you intend to stay at 29 plus 12 months. Well, the Wizard will arrange for you to get carded at a nightclub .. it will be one of the high points of the trip!
Quote: TiltpoulSo I'm trying to plan a trip for my 29 and 12 month birthday in March,
Mark my words (I feel so old saying this, yet so entitled to), someday you'll be telling yourself "I wish i were turning 30 again."
Happy anticipated birthday!
Anwyay, I don't know anything about all this, but it doesn't hurt to ask. It won't hurt even to "threaten" a host by saying you'll be looking for a different "home" casino. The worse they can say is "I'm sorry, sir. I can't get you a better comped room."

Actually, I'm male... but it's genetic. My mother and her mother (who died before I was born) apparently had issues with crossing the 25 mark, and stayed 25 for a LONG time. I actually embraced 25, but I'm not ready to jump the next hurdle. I've decided I'll go into infant explanations (i.e. 29 and 13 months, 29 and 14 months) until I turn 32, where I think I'll finally accept my age.
Quote: s2dbakerHarrah's has given up on the younger crown (and by younger, I mean under 60). If you're over a certain age then you get free stuff.
And I would actually agree with you, except my offers to HSI are pretty generous. Free rooms nearly anytime (or really fantastic rates on busy weekends, when I don't typically go down), two free buffets a month guaranteed, table game players can get comped upon asking, and nice reward credit multiplier days. Usually, the Las Vegas offers for rooms were outstanding, but lately, I'm unimpressed.
I should point out I was thinking of doing a two-day trip to AC in about a week. A couple weeks ago, I could get any hotel's basic (and slight upgrade) Caesars included, free for both nights (mon-tues). Now, I can only get one night free, basic at all but Caesars, and the second night is charged ($29, which isn't bad, but isn't free).
That's probably the best way for what you want. I find no rhyme or reason to Total Rewards computer offers. I do know they started me off strong why I first signed up, ramped down, got big again when I made Diamond, and now go up and down according to who-knows-what.Quote: TiltpoulI'm debating about talking to a host at HSI. The hosts at regional Harrah's properties often have good Vegas connections and can at least get you a good rate somewhere. I wouldn't settle for anything less than Caesars/Paris. Maybe give Planet Hollywood a shot?
