I'll be at Bally's Sunday thru Wed. at $15/night. Probably will try the "$20 trick" to upgrade though.

I'm at Bally's (Mon-Thu) for $15 per night. I may try the $20 trick- first time for me.

I have basically NO level of play (I have 392 RC for the entire year; and I think 8 "tier" points)
I dunno though...with $8 per night rooms...even IF they're at Flamingo..it's hard to want to drop $30k coin-in (probably have a REAL WORLD loss of $300) in order to stay at Rio....but I really do like Rio, lol...

You might as well try. "Hi Miss Rio host- I am trying to find a casino that will comp me room upfront, and other stuff once you see my play. I am planning on putting $30,000 through your machines in a single day. Can you make this happen?"

I almost said those exact words...
The host seemed accomodating...but I just don't want to blow smoke up his ass...I want to put the action in before really talking..at least then I have a bargaining chip...

Hey, I had a free (don't ask me how!) stay at Palazzo back in September...the $20 trick worked like a charm (even THERE!) and I was upgraded to a "Strip View" room...

Do people seem to get more when they are comped ahead of time? Is it that much different than having it comped in the end? I don't play enough really to know. But I'm staying at Rio Saturday night for $50 with no comp offer (just the cyber monday promo), so they obviously should be giving Tim the room for free if he does DIAD.

I didn't say that you had to ask for anything. Here is how I would approach it:

I would say, "Hi, I have never really played much at your casino before, but I am considering switching over. I had heard about this DIAD promotion that you have, and it sounds like a good way to get started. Can you give me details?"

Then listen to him describe it. This will clear up any misunderstandings (if any) that you might have about the promotion. Ask about start times and end times, if you're not sure (ie, when does a "day" start and end?). Ask any other questions you have. Then say, ok, thanks, I am planning on doing it on such and such a day.

Don't ask for anything. You haven't played yet, so you're not really in a position to ask for anything anyway. When he hears that you are doing it during a dead time when they have tons of rooms, he MAY offer you a free room. It doesn't cost him much if they only charge marketing (say) $20 for the room, and it would be worth his while to get you on his account if you really do play that much that day (he wants you as "his customer" before you play, not after). So, he may think it's worth the risk, since, at the very worst case, his account is down $20, which he probably doesn't care about. If he doesn't offer, book the room yourself, and go and play anyway. Charge food, etc, to the room, and go see him when you are done -- you should be able to get everything comped off.

I am sure you understand the CZR system is all about ADT and most don't understand it. But basically your comps and future orders are based on it. Playing 9/6 VP means nothing to them. They want slot players and higher margin table games players. But it doesn't hurt to ask.

Is DIAD plausible or even possible with table game play? With all the hocus-pocus involved in how many points you get from table game play, how would you even know how much play to give during the day?

In 2009, DIAD was 3,500 tier points. As near as I could ever find out, the 24 hour period ran from 4 AM to 4 AM, but I could never get that verified by anyone.
At the RIO one weekend in 2009, I did 3,300 points in one day, playing only craps.
At that time, I was buying in for about $1000, and I was betting $90 inside, with a first hit press to $180 inside, and a second hit press to $270 inside.
I had some wild swings that day, up over 3Gs at one point, then down 1K, back up 2K, and then down almost 3K, before a late run got me back to even.

So, DIAD is definitely possible on a table game, but you need to have some good luck up front so that you are playing on house money for a long time.

However, as has already been noted, if you are not going to CET properties A LOT, there is no advantage to Diamond. In Vegas, it is nice to have Diamond, and get to jump to the front of the food lines, but that is about the extent of the advantages. At RIO, you can also use a free computer in the Diamond Lounge to print boarding passes.....

That sounds familiar too. If I was making a DIAD attempt on a table and they acted that way to me, I would have just got up, diddle around/play video poker for 10 minutes, then reinsert my TR card in any slot/video poker machine to see how my Tier Score changed that day.

Table games are not posted to your account until set times, but that is another item they would never disclose. At one point, I felt it was happening a couple of hours AFTER the shift change, but I was never able to confirm that either.

I do know if you ask the new floor manager what your rating is right after they have done a shift change, you will be told they don't know what you were previously rated, as the prior manager closed you out. I am pretty sure it is sometime after that your rating gets updated in the system.

Yeah...if it is mass loaded for every pitboss shift, then you obv couldn't do what I would suggest. Poker's system is clearly different than table games. And I personally would hate to do something like DIAD and not clearly know where I stood.
