Rock of Ages at The Venetian and Shania Twain at Caesar's Colloseum when I'm out there Memorial Day weekend.
If anyone knows how I can get the best prices on these or any show tickets please share your knowledge.
Thanks in advance.

Don't have your taxi driver set it up.
Yeah, they get a kickback, huh?Quote: odiousgambitDon't have your taxi driver set it up.

Yep, although my one experience with this was quite good, presumably excessive price of the tickets now forgotten. Still, good advice to make that a last resort.
I was going to suggest looking at Easy.Vegas, but the link is hijacked or something [very surprising!]

Bypass the main page by typing some specific page... you can still get there.Quote: odiousgambit

I sent him a message, we'll see what he says. He is all about webmaster stuff I think.

1) Does anyone know if I can get cheaper tickets by going to the box office last minute and getting them discounted since they want to fill seats? Again I am looking for Rock of Ages and Shania Twain.
2) Also, I've gone to a concert before a friend bought our tickets last minute from a scalper bought the tickets for less than the price printed on the ticket. If I show up to any of these places is there a way for me to buy a ticket off of someone who has an extra ticket they're trying to get rid of? And if so can I do this legally?
I once hocked tickets for an hour outside of Donny & Marie, couldn't sell them, and ended up not even going to the show! (I disliked them that much). Generally, there aren't ticket scalpers in Vegas. And the big shows like Shania and Rock are tough to find discounts for, because they are so high in demand. (Maybe not Rock). Your best bet may be to find a high-roller who can get a comp and will either give them to you or sell them at a discount.Quote: HotBlondeDoes anyone know if I can get cheaper tickets by going to the box office last minute and getting them discounted since they want to fill seats? Quote: aceofspadeswhat about TIX 4 Tonight
This is what I would recommend generally, but I am unsure if either of her desired shows would be available for the days she is there if she waits on Tix4Tonight, especially since it's memorial day weekend. It's hard to say. But currently a month out, the cheapest seats available for Shania (back three rows of the Colosseum) are still available ($69.50/ea after outrageous taxes/fees), so it's possible Tix4Tonight may still have some seats near the date of the show for sale.
And here is a coupon to print out later (it only lasts 30 days) to save on service fees.

ooh! Good idea! However would I have to find the person at either the Venetian or caesar's? Cuz I usually gamble mostly at the MGM properties. But I guess I'll have to look extra sexy during my trip! But the last thing I would want is for casino staff to think I was a prostitute looking for money! :OQuote: teddysYour best bet may be to find a high-roller who can get a comp and will either give them to you or sell them at a discount.
yes I like this idea, but as triglomane said I've noticed from my own experience that that service usually doesn't sell tickets to anything but USIALLY the lower-end shows. Not always, but USUALLY, hence my capital letters. But I did but a ticket for $35 to Fantasy (I think that's what it was called, at the Luxor) and the show was really great!Quote: aceofspadeswhat about TIX 4 Tonight
But I will ask around when I get there if I need to. I'm thinking maybe just showing just before the show might get me a good deal unless the casinos are really strict about not having people soliciting for tickets. Not sure how all that works in Vegas.
Back in March I had an extra seat to Celine (wife couldnt make the trip). I stood there in front of the Colosseum entrance at Caesars holding the ticket fully exposed and as people walked by I said "free. free. free." No takers. Security came by and said I couldnt do that.
When I told them I wasn't selling it and it was for "free" and it was "comped" they said "then return it to the box office sir." And I said, "if I do that they'll sell it to someone." They told me to either go into the showroom or leave.
So then I walked through the slots in the Forum casino asking players "anyone want a free, fifth row seat to Celine?" All I got was "no."
Went back to the front entrance -- it's now ten minutes till the show starts and there is a long line at the "will call window" for folks looking for last minute cancelled seats. Everybody needed two tickets -- I only had one.
I start to walk into the theater and a woman is saying to two friends "enjoy the show!" And I ask, "aren't you going in?" She says "I don't have a ticket." I handed it to her.
That's awesome. I would hang out and look for a ticket that way but I don't want to get in trouble with security.Quote: AlanMendelsonHang out about a half hour before the show and see if anyone has extra tickets.

Years ago when Celine had her first show at Caesars I was in the host office and a high roller came in complaining that her tickets for Celine that night were not "orchestra" seats ... they were on the mezzanine level. When the host said to her the show was sold out and couldnt be switched, the high roller turned to me and "you want them?" "Sure, can I pay you for them?" I asked as I reached for my wallet. "Nope, they're yours."
By the way, I saw Celine's "A New Day" no less than 10 times at Caesars. It might have been 11. Saw it from every position in the Colosseum -- high, low, right, left, center, first row, very last row.
That's okay, the link still has some useful information.Quote: HotBlondeI've never been in the military :(Quote: FleaStiffIF you qualify in any way for military or retired military status the CHEAPEST though by no means quickest way is thru Nellis AF base.

As for comps that you are unhappy with, I'd feel better about turning them back in to your host but some people do sell them or give them away. The casinos consider them hard comps, but often get the tickets at a steep discount. A concierge will usually know the better shows and the better seats.
I doubt you would find any discount tickets however, especially on Memorial day weekend. Rock of Ages might be easier as you might be able to get same day seats at 1/2 price on the strip by stopping by any of the discount ticket shops.
Good luck!
