Basically, they would just raise the price every time, but the menu price would stay at 19.99. Nowhere was this fee advertised or shown, it was just on the bill. Now they have the DMF fee, so dont know if they are still applying this other, but I have heard you can ask to have the 3% removed now.
Quote: mtcardsWhile it isnt the same, a few years ago, we were in Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. We ate at a restaurant there and when the bill came, I was aware of the different government taxes that were added to it, but there was this other fee I cant remember what it was called (It was before the DMF fees now applied). I remember we ate there because they advertised a Steak and Lobster combo for 19.99, so with tax and beverage I figured we would be out around 50 US for the meal. When the bill had the 3% added to it, I asked the waiter and they said the additional fee was so they didnt have to raise the menu price!!!! WTF?????

It is like a hotel listing rooms at 59.95 and when you get to the hotel they add another 50.00 as a resort fee. As far as the DMF charge it is a tourism charge, However you can refuse to pay it and they must remove the charge. If they don't you can just give them the price for the meal without the the DMF and leave. That is how it works in Niagara Falls. I was there two weeks ago and there was some weird extra on the bill and I said I am not paying that and they said fine. No issue.

I can’t imagine I’d pay anything to watch the super bowl. So in total, that’s $445 too much for the two tickets.
Do people pay for these seats for week 12 Sunday games as well? For the Tottenham versus Aston Villa soccer clash? For the USA versus Venezuela friendly woman’s soccer match?

No, it just depends on demand. It’s usually open seating during regular season games. They are getting these prices in post season because AC is mostly Eagles territory.
Folks will vote with their dollars.
I'd say buy their stock (if publicly traded) on a major dip, if it were sustainable.

Pardon the 10-month-old bump, but I was going to post about this anyway.
Let me put it this way: I just made a reservation for next Summer at the Paris for 4 nights
Room rate: $120
Resort Fee: $183.80

I think you’re paying to have the resort remodeled.

It sucks, until you realize one night in a NYC hotel would cost more than your entire stay. You are paying $75 a night to stay in a resort.

Yeah, Vegas is still one of the cheapest major tourist destinations in the world to visit.
For the cost of rooms, yes, especially during the weekQuote: TigerWuQuote: billryanIt sucks, until you realize one night in a NYC hotel would cost more than your entire stay. You are paying $75 a night to stay in a resort.

But meals, drinks, taxis, “entertainers”, etc are NOT cheap in Vegas. Most of the above costs 2 or 3 times what I pay at home
If you like some female company/entertainment, Vegas is probably the most expensive city in the world.
Be a Caesar's Diamond and get those resort fees auto-waived.Quote: ThatDonGuyQuote: JoemanAt the risk of being political, didn't our elected officials in the US government vow to crack down on "junk" fees such as this? Does anyone know if any progress has been made on that front?

Yes, but I like to pounce on these Ceasar's sales, and it's part of a vacation where the other part has a fixed date.

I managed a semi-rural economy hotel (granted, there was a work boom in the area, so lots of transient workers) and we came out to ~$75 a night ADR. We were often more expensive than that; it depended on the season.
We didn't have a Resort Fee, but the point is, in terms of nightly hotel rates-Vegas remains pretty dirt cheap IF you go at the right time.

I traveled from Arizona to NY this summer. I stayed twenty-three nights in Choice Hotels and spent around $1200. I think two nights were free, maybe three. Using a promo they were running, I received points that turned into $500 worth of Amazon gift cards. About half the hotels offered complimentary breakfast, and only one had a resort fee. These are low-end to moderate hotels, with a few being surprisingly nice.
In most cases, I made same-day reservations through the website. Almost every market had much higher priced options if I'd wanted. I didn't find anything under $200 in NY or Long Island, but luckily had friends and family.
Since I started using them again, in May. they've run B2G1 promos almost continuously.

Wow, as someone that lived i Vegas and was single my experience was quite different. I found that very often I could find single women in a Vegas resort that were on vacation and just wanting to have fun.
