Total vs Active Members

Earlier today I noticed a tabulation showing total members (13,133) and active members (7,886) on WoV.
Can someone please tell me the criteria used to separate active and inactive members.

I would imagine some extremely low criteria, like ever posting at all, or logging in in the last six months or year or two.

When I designed the forum, the "active members" statistic included anybody with at least one post, ever. I don't know if that has changed since the new ownership, I would guess probably not.
