I have an iPhone 4s. Sometimes when I'm writing a post, and using the backspace tab to correct text, the backspace tab will lock up. The only thing I can then do is turn off my phone and turn it back on. But of course I will have lost my entire message. Does this happen to anyone else? If so, is there a way to unlock the backspace bar and not lose the text?

I'm not sure what you mean. If I've already written a dozen lines to a post and then while correcting spelling by backspacing, sometimes the backspace tab will become black (the area surrounding the x on the backspace key) and then everything just freezes.

I don't think that's an intended feature on the 4s. Get it replaced or see what the Apple people will do.

I didn't realize that everything on your phone was frozen at that point. Sorry I can't help.

How often do you close your apps and power off your iPhone?
Note:
To close the apps, double click the home button and you'll get thumbnails of the open apps. Flick them up to get rid of them. This closes them which frees up memory, which could be part of the problem.
I do this once or twice a day.
Once all your apps have been closed, turn the iPhone off by holding the power button until a slider appears allowing you to shut down. After it powers off, wait about 15 second, then turn it back on. This de-fragments the memory.
I do this about once a week.
Try it. Let us know...

Thanks, DJ.
I know how to do that but don't do it that often. But I just did it and had 20 apps open. Also, I tried to recreate the freeze-up so I could hold down the backspace bar, or double click on it, to see if that would help. Couldn't get it to freeze. Made it through this message okay.
