Palms renovation draws attention, but net income decreases for Red Rock Resorts. http://bit.ly/2UTGUfw

* An increase in charges and write-downs combined with a drop in the fair value of derivative investments to yield a first-quarter net income decrease from a year earlier for Red Rock Resorts. However, revenue rose and topped Wall Street forecasts.

In a statement issued Tuesday after stock markets closed, Red Rock Resorts, the Las Vegas-based parent of Southern Nevada locals casino giant Station Casinos, said its net income was $20.3 million, or 16 cents per diluted share, for the three months ended March 31, down from net income of $51.2 million, or 65 cents per diluted share, a year earlier. http://bit.ly/2UTGUfw

Over time every off-Strip Vegas casino has had problems it seems. Downtown has its own market, but the Hard Rock is rebranding as a Virgin, Palms went down and is now trying to revive, M Resort and Green Valley Ranch went bankrupt at one point, etc. etc. South Point seems to be the only casino far from the Strip that is thriving and then when you think about it, South Point IS on the Strip just far away from its center.

South Point knows how to run a casino. There customers are loyal because they have good games, good pay tables, good promotions, and good food. Hard not to succeed with that recipe.
Red Rock is fickle with everything they do, not to mention they have sketchy ownership and leadership.

Isn't it publicly owned?

I think you are a good guy, but I guess you didnt get the subtle hint I dropped by adding a link ( https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/off-topic/general/32861-casino-and-gambling-news/ ) to about 4 or 5 of your posts. Are you even checking back in on half of them after you post? I hope you can understand it's kinda annoying to wake up in the morning and find 10 new posts in the recent threads section that really don't need their own threads. I wouldn't argue that a FEW of your new threads are worthy of their own threads, but well, you know.

I'm beginning to think you have some kind of promotion angle going on with this sudden burst of new threads being started.

I believe South Point is privately owned (Michael Gaughan) and one of the few privately owned that is making it well. T.I. is privately owned too (Phil Ruffin) and seems to have also found its niche. But South Point is wildly successful compared to T.I.

As I recall South Point was owned by Boyd, and called South Coast before, but then Gaughan bought it all up and became its sole owner.

Stephen,

I think he was urging you to put news articles in the casino news thread, not start a new one with each post. But I would encourage you to continue to bring them to the forum, just use that thread for it. You've generated several good conversations.

Thanks beachbumbabs,

OK, I got it.

In this case, I may start a New-Post Call: Todays News (anyone can put Gaming-News in there)
e.g. (Todays News 2/5/19) (Todays News 3/5/19) (Todays News 4/5/19) etc...

Is that OK with members here?

Why not just find a thread where that casino is being discussed in a thread that relates to the news, and add to that thread.

Or at least post it in the sub-forum that relates to that casino, if there is no applicable existing thread.

One new thread a day would certainly be better than a half dozen or so. WoV already has 2 gaming news threads. I can't help but wonder, why a self promoter would be starting all new threads instead of adding to already existing ones? I'm sure somebody could elaborate on that though.

Why not just post the link so everybody can sign up for the CDC Gaming Reports. I read those everyday and it appears that many of your posts per day contain the same stories.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Yes, most of the are, but not all.
Beside if I do that, Members here will think I am working for CDC.

Not everybody want to sign up with CDC.

P.S. I am trying to get this site (Wizard of Vegas) busy not CDC Gaming Reports.
