Then I will tell you the latest story I was told by a Venetian security employee who said he loved working there. An employee has a
daughter with leukemia. The Adelson's flew the child and her parents to St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis, TN and I understand her
treatments and their stay and all expenses were fully paid for. If it is the same child, then I heard variations of this story at least
once or twice before. If this story has any validity, then I am fairly sure you have heard of it as well. Over the years I have heard
other stories attributed to the Adelson's as acts of kindness as well. I am sorry to read of your dislike for the Sands. Corp. Yet,
I look at our town and see so much of the dark side of unemployment that I am grateful for the 40,000 jobs they bring to our
struggling city. And, in passing, I wonder - is this the same Wiz from years ago, who once taught at UNLV?

Okay, you're a Sheldon Adelson fan and there's certainly nothing wrong with that. As I said in a previous post his philanthropy is well documented and he is to be commended for it. There is a very long list of benefactors in and out of the casino industry so he is hardly unique. A few that come to mind are Steve Wynn, Andre Agassi, Wayne Newton, The Caesars Foundation, Phil Ruffin and Mr. and Mrs. Penn Jillette. Many, many more prefer to do their good work anonymously.

That was a touching story that the security person told you and I know that all expenses were paid. You know how I know? I know because every patient gets free treatment every time and every child and one parent get free lodging every time. It's all paid for by St. Jude. It is St. Jude not St Jude's.

I am a fan of anyone who does charitable work, especially during difficult economic times. I am a fan of anyone whose corporation
provides employment for 40,000 people. And, when I make my annual check out to a Memphis charity, I write St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital as the payee. However, as a lifelong Catholic, and a frequent user of English, it is customary to use an apostrophe
and "s" to denote ownership/possession. St. John's, St. Raymond's, St. Jude's, etc. Look - I am not here in any confrontational sense.
I live in Vegas and leave comments relating to my experiences as a resident. If you have a problem with that - I'd suggest you take
it up with the wizard.

I've agreed twice now that Shelley does good things and I didn't have to get it third or fourth hand from a security person. I also pointed out that he most likely did not pay for anyone's treatment or lodging at St. Jude Hospital. I also commend you for giving to this worthwhile charity.

What exactly is it that you think I have a problem with and what does the Wizard have to do with it?

The latter part is he was hired by the Venetian and his position was eliminated not even 6 months later. Since most of this forum thinks the Wizard does great things with regards to gaming, most of us aren't huge fans of the Venetian, or Adelson.

Yes, I alluded to the Wizards Venetian experience in my first response to timbo and mentioned him by name in my second. If anyone wants to know how despicable and just plain rotten this company, under Mr. Adelson's control, was to one of it's employees it's all here in this forum. Does anyone think that this was an isolated incident?

What I don't understand is why timbo would think I have a problem with his comments and why, if I did, he would tell me to take it up with the Wizard. I also find it somewhat odd that a member who joined this forum over three years ago suddenly decides to start posting now, not that there's anything wrong with it. I feel that the more Las Vegans here the better.
