I just received a free offer from a casino for two people for a free cruise through the Norwegian Cruise Line. Most likely this will be some sort of business pick-up deal for both industries. All I have to do is show up at the casino on a specific date and swipe my card at a promotion kiosk and they will mail them to me. On the same day that I have to be there, I am getting my first covid vaccine shot and am passing up on going to the casino that day. Plus I would not have gone on a cruise anyway as it is not my thing.
Normally I never use a player's card but late last summer I had to start inserting my license in a machine to get in so I decided to take a chance and play rated for the time being.

What do you mean you had to insert your license to get in. I don't understand

Before you entered the actual casino itself you had to do two procedures first a temperature check and the scan box.
There was a box that on top had an insert for a driver's license which the machine would pull in and I assume would take a picture of the license. That way if there was a big outbreak of covid related to the casino they would know who went on any specific day. There was a guard watching to make sure everyone followed the procedure.

Unless they've changed in the last few years, I wouldn't recommend doing casino trips with Norwegian. They charge a pretty hefty administration fee of some kind, charge for onboard billing, have godawful comps, and nigh nonexistent continued offerings. Personally, I go with Princess.
The admin fee was something like 200/pp; I couldn't get free drinks or a pair of free premium restaurants after being down five digits in an afternoon, and no bounceback offers of any kind.
In comparison, Princess has a 200$ deposit per person (up from 100$ in 2018), that's applied as a credit to onboard charges (including casino charges at no additional fee), more spa time than I have time, and as far as bounceback offers go... I'll leave this (and I'm actually up with them, even after taxes and port fees):
