I have an exciting announcement (for me, anyway):

Bad Beat Blackjack has gone live at the Nisqually Red Wind Casino in Olympia, Washington. It's been live for 7 weeks and players seem to like it so far.

Go play it. :)

For the record, this particular sale represents a milestone in my practice -- it was a solo effort from inception to installation. I handled everything including game design, math, patent prosecution (okay, I had legal help with the patent), regulatory approvals, marketing, and sales. I've done deals before, but always through vendors or distributors. This is my first solo install.

Mazel Tov! I'm in the area, so maybe I'll check it out sometime. Where can I get a description of the game?

Good luck! I think you will be successful. The number of players who say "My 19 always lose to 20..." will keep feeding the jackpot bet circle....

Congrats. This is just straightforward and simple enough to be a big hit. Best of luck!

Is it a game or a side bet?

Forgive me if this had been discussed in the past, but has the Wiz or anyone else had any ideas on BS changes if you have a side bet close to or equal to your main bet? For example, split 9's and 10's against a 10 for a great chance at a big payoff? How would this factor into the house edge?

Side bet.

Gratz ME! Must be proud of creating something from nothing all by your onesies. Couldn't happen to a better guy, I wish you success.

Get it in Vegas before 2/20 so's I can play it!

Interesting take on proprietary games and sidebets.

Here's another one about picking the right name for your side bet.

ME best wishes and hoping for great success in your game. Well done!!!! My feeling has always been to go solo and not give up 75%+ of your game to a distributor. If you feel confident in your game then the way you went about this is the way to go.

Bravo, soloer. My installations of Shortie Blackjack and Break Poker were all solo too. The ups and downs of game design were just more exciting than gambling - eTable Games . I don't need to play table games to get my juice.

ME, I have been listening to some of the old Gambling with an Edge podcasts, and on the show with Max Rubin on November 17th, Max mentions that he has a patent on a Bad Beat Blackjack side bet, but had to negotiate with a second game designer who had a similar-but-not-exactly-the-same patent already.

Are you that other person? I was surprised to hear him talk about it, since the name of the side bet was exactly the same as yours (they didn't go into detail on the payouts).

Yes, I'm the "other person"; it sounds illicit somehow. I own several patents and trademarks on Bad Beat Blackjack, so when Max wanted to do his version he worked with me to make it happen. The product is known as "Bad Beat Blackjack Progressive" and it's live at Barona and several other casinos. Last I checked, there are over 50 tables in the market. DEQ is distributing the product: it's an electronically-implemented progressive side bet using DEQ's G3 bet manager. At Barona, anyway, the jackpot seems to hit reasonably frequently, and for 5 figures each time:

I haven't listened to the show you're referring to so I don't know any more details.

You already congratulated him in January 2012. :) I just re-opened this old thread to see if there was an update on how the game is doing.
