Way to go Dan!!
Congrats Dan!
Apologies for the misinformation, perhaps Dan can update us on the progress in CA.
Quote: ParadigmI also just noticed in on the Barona website as well.....not sure why the Commerce was mentioned as spearheading the effort to get it approved in CA and is just now going live with the game if Barona & Pala already have it.

Paradign, good question.
In California, the card rooms are separate and additional approvals than Indian-based casinos.
We were approval in July 2009 for Barona/tribal gaming, but only recently were we approved for California card room use. Barona is all EZ Pai Gow.
A huge step forward. Thanks!!
Quote: bigfoot66Indeed, congrats Dan. Despite his Unreasonable stance on card counting, I play EZ Pai Gow every time I go to Pala (San Diego), where it seems like they have had the game for at least 6 months, perhaps longer.
Thanks!!
Pai Gow is a different ball of wax from Blackjack.
(And yes, many gamblers find my position of actually obeying the casino house rules utterly strange and unreasonable. WTH, we take sides and battle it out, provides for some juice!)
But that's neither here ore there.
The main thing is getting tables out, so I can finally get out from behind a table. :)
Today, I just pitched some games to Stations. Two of my own, and two fine games from our game designer associates.
A LONG process...........................................................................

Of course it's unreasonable to some and perfectly reasonable to others.
Quote: NicksGamingStuffIf card rooms don't charge a 5% commission on wins for Pai Gow Poker why would they want the EZ version? No offense to Dan, but I am just surprised the card rooms would get it.
Nick - there are a couple of reasons for the EZ Pai Gow option:
1. To pick up and use an array of the product's side bets. Currently, Commerce is using FIVE side bets on EZ Pai Gow, and will narrow it down to the most popular added bets.
2. To have the banker's option to use the Queen-high or lower mechanism; currently, offering PGP with both no commission and no house edge mechanism of any sort really cuts it close for the banker to bank. Bankers' groups have to bank an array of game types to insure a positive cash flow. They don't have to use the push mechanism, it's totally their option. This is kind of like living in New York City and never visiting the Statue of Liberty or the Broadway Theater district - but saying, "I have that option! Ah, the value of living in New York!"
If they do use it then some players might gripe about it, true, but then, 6:5 Blackjack gets action AND makes money for the house, all AP outrage and whining aside....

So is Lumiere Place in St Louis... I think it's overwhelming to have THAT many side bets, but more power to them, I guess.
So do I. EZ Pai Gow comes in a number of side bet configurations along with no commission. I am amazed at some configurations,
- but each casino operator has the best pulse on what their customers prefer and what they can handle.
And the players at the Commerce Casino are serious no-joke players who can handle a lot of action.
One of the surprise hit side bets in some locales is the Red-Black bet (The dealt hand has a Majority red cards or black cards like the Roulette bet. House edge of about 2% derived from 3 red, 3 black and a joker.)

I'm at Horseshoe Southern Indiana, and you have a pit boss advocating to get EZ Pai Gow here... they already have EZ Bacc, and it's on the main floor... it sounds like you have a good chance of getting it in Indiana.
