Many of you may know some or most of these things:
I created a side bet called Poker For Roulette and a new table game called Pick A Card.
Years ago I created a series of Vegas maps which feature the logos of the resorts and points of interest. For a while, these were the official WoV maps.
An Introduction to Poker in a Casino Poker Room is a WoV article based upon a thread I started.
All are available on my own website, http://www.DaveMillerGaming.com
There's been some updates which most of you are unaware:
I've added or updated logos as necessary on the maps, and added the F1 race course.
Because of the empty space, I added a bunch of commentary to the Primm / I15 map, describing the area, Seven Magic Mountains, the Lottery Store, and how the ride is nice and relaxing - except when it's not.
There's also a page about my Poker Dealer experience where you'll find my resume, as well as a PDF of an updated version of that Intro article.
On the History page of both of the game websites are links to WoV discussions about the game. Please use those if you have comments about them.
If you have comments about other parts of the site, let me know here. Also, I'm not a Vegas local, so if you see that I'm using an old logo on my maps, let me know.
Thanks!
He also said that he didn’t see the F1 course I mentioned - even though he kinda knew where it was. That’s when I realized he was looking at the thumbnail. I forgot to update that! LOL 🤪
Both have been fixed. 😁

I've been a long-time admirer of your maps, as you know.
You would probably want me to tell you that "gauge" is not spelled that way on the map.
Yeah, I like your maps too. That’s why I gave you a link on that page.
Typo? Son of a mother! Sigh. I fixed it.
Thanks.
When I added the F1 course, it correctly ran along Harmon Ave, even though I didn't have Harmon on the map. I had originally thought that it wasn't a major enough road.
Today I realized that the logo for Virgin Hotel was on Tropicana. I moved it to the corner of Harmon and Paradise, where it belongs - which also made it make sense that I should add Harmon.
Anybody see any other errors? What about Logos? Since I'm not a local, I don't always know when logos change.
Social media keeps me up-to-date on name changes and openings/closings. I'll be adding Fountainebleu and Durango Casinos soon...
I have the same problem with not being local any more. The casinos don't send me press releases when something changes. Heck, even when I write to them and ask questions, they never write back. Fortunately I've clicked enough stories about Vegas in Google News that when there's an opening or closing, it shows up in my feed. I also just check the "Vegas" topic in Google News every once in a while. That, and following Vital Vegas on Twitter.Quote: DJTeddyBearSince I'm not a local, I don't always know when logos change.

My list of openings and closings might be of use to you.
I'll leave mapping Formula 1 up to you, not at least until I have a lot more time.
Soon is today. I updated the Strip and Valley maps to include these two new casinos. http://davemillergaming.com/maps.htmlQuote: DJTeddyBearSocial media keeps me up-to-date on name changes and openings/closings. I'll be adding Fountainebleu and Durango Casinos soon...

Reminder: Because they only show main roads, and the logos of casinos and other major points of interest, they can be more useful than other maps, particularly for tourists.
And in a couple days I'll be making an announcement about a minor change to my Pick A Card game. A minor change, but a big improvement. Stay tuned...
I'm still amazed that you're able to get all the logos to fit. I'm using just the name of the casino and I have a hard time cramming them in. I just added the "new" O'Sheas (which relocated a solid decade ago), and that was a challenge.
If you don't know how to get your map to automatically size to the screen size (whether it's mobile or desktop), I can share the code, if that's something you'd want to do.
Ok. It’s been a couple days. Here it is:Quote: DJTeddyBear…In a couple days I'll be making an announcement about a minor change to my Pick A Card game. A minor change, but a big improvement. Stay tuned...

I've developed a simpler jackpot side bet for my Pick A Card game.
Both the original and new jackpots get triggered when the three cards selected is either a straight flush or three of a kind. But instead of locking up the bets awaiting a new three card hand, in the new version, a fourth card is selected. If the resulting 4 card hand hand is a 4 card straight flush or is four of a kind, Jackpot! If a 3 card straight flush becomes a straight or a flush, or if the fourth card added to the three of a kind is the last suit, then it pays a partial jackpot.
That's it. Easier to hit and easier to deal.
Get more details and the math for both versions on my website, http://www.DaveMillerGaming.com

I put an X thru the Trop logo, and maybe a little early, the Mirage logo too.
But the big news is, every logo on all 4 maps now links to their website! (Except the X’d logos.)

Or maybe that was you, and I just couldn't find it on your site.
For the record, that list is horribly out of date.
Without doing real checking, I saw 9 incorrect items.
I only hope that you’re the only one who connected it with my map ideas.
I added the Las Vegas Sign to the Strip map. I can't believe I never thought to put it there before.
I put an X over Whiskey Pete's on the Primm map.
Are there any other closures that I'm not aware of?
I'm leaving Mirage & Trop with the X over it, because I assume the marquee signs are still there, therefore they are still a landmark. Or am I wrong on that? (I'm not local, so I don't know.)
All pages have an updated copyright date.
Thanks for any info!
Yeah, especially since it's been on mine since the beginning!Quote: DJTeddyBearI added the Las Vegas Sign to the Strip map. I can't believe I never thought to put it there before.
Since the Trop is gone - marquee and all, I got rid of it's logo. And although I still have doubts about the A's, I added their logo / future home. I have far more doubts about Bally's so Ieft that off. But since Mirage's marquee is still standing, I'm leaving their logo for now.
I also put an X over Buffalo Bills and changed the text on the Primm map.
And I updated the DownTown Grand logo (They changed the A. It didn't used to have a crossbar.)
Any other changes I'm not aware of? Even things like logo updates?
Just a couple notes for MichaelBluejay:
My Strip map guage runs in two directions and says: This map is not to scale. North/South is more accurate than East/West. This gauge is aprox 1 mile in each direction.Quote: MichaelBluejay... I'm still amazed that you're able to get all the logos to fit. ...

The other maps aren't nearly as tight, and are much closer to correct scale.
For the record, I use PhotoShop to clean up the logos, and Adobe InDesign to do all this layout work. I have a hidden layer that is a screen shot of the area of Google Maps which helps me position everything.
But still, getting graphics to fit is tough. I'm currently polling my readers to ask them to rate my new graphical version, and the original compact version. I don't have enough votes yet (only about 40 for each, prefer 100), but so far they both rate about the same, so going forward I'll probably just maintain both maps, for those who prefer one over the other.
I'm wondering if you would want to include the Skyline Casino on Boulder Hwy on your Valley map. It has a hotel and blackjack tables (poker tables, too).
OK. Skyline meets the criteria, so it will be added. Gimme a couple days.
For the record, I originally used a list that the Wizard created as my starting point for which casinos to include. At the time, his criteria was that it had a hotel and at least one table game, which is why Slots-O-Fun and Aztec Inn were never included. I assume that Skyline wasn't on his list. Or maybe I overlooked it.
Whatever. It certainly has the minimum, so I'll add it.
On that note, Casino Royale hasn't had table games since the pandemic. But that's supposedly temporary, so I'm leaving it on the map. They're also supposed to be renovating soon. If there's no tables after the renovations, I'll remove it. I think there might be others that also have still 'temporarily' removed their tables.
If tables are only open for limited hours, sigh, that passes my test. (I’m looking at YOU Main Street Station…)
I'm not a local, so thanks for the info. Anybody got any other updates?
Before my first Vegas trip in 2001, I'd read somewhere that the Aztec Inn had the loosest slots on the Strip, and spent several hours trying to find it. No one I asked had heard of it, and someone told me it was in the low-rent casinos by where the Boardwalk was located. On my last night, I came out of the Strat, and suddenly it was there, right in front of me. It didn't live up to its reputation for loose slots that night.
It's been a couple of years since I've been, but at the time, Skyline only opened their BJ tables on the weekends. This was not long after the pandemic, so that might have been just temporary. Their website touts BJ and doesn't mention any times.Quote: DJTeddyBearIf tables are only open for limited hours, sigh, that passes my test.
Yes. But no hotel. So the don’t meet my criteria.Quote: billryanDoesn't Slots of Fun have table games these days?
link to original post
Maybe you misunderstood. Any table games, even one BJ table with limited hours, qualifies for my criteria.Quote: Joeman…Their website touts BJ and doesn't mention any times.
link to original post
Yes, everyone has their own criteria, as do I (explained at the top of my list).
It also includes a list of casinos which removed their table games.
OK. Skyline is on the map! (Although not on the thumbnail. I'm a litte lazy about those.)Quote: Joeman... include the Skyline Casino on Boulder Hwy on your Valley map...

Interestingly, all the logos I could find do not include the three mountains above the name. Didn't it used to? It's these sort of changes that I'm rarely aware of since I'm not a local..
