I have a 'free' cruise from NCL. (just pay port fees + taxes = ~$400)
was thinking of New Orleans to Mexico on NCL Dawn during thanksgiving (11/20-27).
arrive a day earlier and leave a day later, so hotel on sat, 11/19 and sun, 11/27 (to fly out mon 11/28).
called up reservations. Best rate is:
11/19 = $205 + 30tax = 235
11/27 = 106 + 17tax = 123
11/27 isn't that bad but wtf 11/19?!
then I tried during Martin Luther' King holiday week (1/15-22, 2017).
same strategy of arrive a day early and leave a day later.
so hotel sat, jan 14 and sun, jan 22 (to fly out on mon, jan 23).
1/14: $256 + 38tax = 294
1/22 $136 +21tax = 157
Jesus.. are rates for Harahh's new Orleans always this high?!
--First trip comped at a nearby hotel (Loews New Orleans) for two nights
--Second time went with Priceline because CET rooms were high; ended up at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans for less than $100...that was a good bit further from the casino
--Last time got a $69 rate at the Marriott New Orleans via CET.
The casino was an easy walk via tunnels from the first one, we had to cab it from the second one, and we never hit the casino the third time--it was a quick in and out on our way to Vegas for a 40th birthday party at the House of Blues and we basically drank most of the 15 hours we were in town...good times!!
EDIT--I just spent some time on the TR website; I don't see any affiliate hotels listed. I know that I have seen them on the website before...I don't know if they still have those relationships or not. Maybe try asking the reservations people or try to get in touch with a host for some info??? That 11/19 shows the same on mine...interesting because you have a lot more play; my CET time has been limited of late and I am closer to non-existent than Diamond...
Quote: DeMangoIf you are diamond, what about Harrah's Gulf Coast in Biloxi? For me it's about 100 miles from the airport and a quick drive using I-10.
I was thinking about that possibility, too...I saw pretty low prices on that and I enjoy Biloxi, too.

I just checked the same as WoN except single night 11/19 since your cruise sails on Sun 11/20 right?
Premium King, River View. Only charge is $2.00 tax.
Also Diamond (from 2015), 475 TC short for 2016 (hard to earn them this year apparently ;-)
Did you try calling, or over TR site?
Quote: WizardofnothingSo weird I only have platinum at harrahs New Orleans but this is the rate I just got when I checked

You have more than one night chosen...it could be that one of the nights is comped and drives the rate down...

Who knows what parameters the use for their offers...
Do you have a CET host in Vegas? Maybe that person could help...
Quote: GWAE100x here's a thought? You had a thread about getting in trouble for booking multiple nights. Did you do thst already or is that an up and coming trip? If you did that already then this could be your consequence. If you didn't go but have them currently booked then that is probably the issue. CETs website does not like it when you currently have a comp and try to get another oNE while that one is active.
haven't done the Vegas comp yet. that's next month.
thx for the suggestion. will call back in sept after my aug trip is over and the $40k coin-in I planned for that trip is recognized for the next cycle.

I called. then checked harrah's new Orleans website. same thing.
GWAE may be right about an open booking already.
Or maybe they don't like you ;-)
My 'home' location has basically told me to get lost but I still have good offers throughout the rest of the system, figure that?
Quote: WizardofnothingHey ron , yea I had two nights clicked but both were comped/ the charge you see was just tax and resort fees
Gotcha....
Okay...another suggestion...book now or find another hotel nearby at a better price to book with the goal of avoiding any deposits, if possible. Keep playing at the casinos as fits your normal gambling plan...then try to see if anything changes.
I use Southwest a lot--we have a companion pass...so I check rates early and often. I have rebooked flights three or four times based on their sale fares and/or changes in plans. I do the same with hotel and car reservations. It takes very little time and you can easily save a good bit of money.
By the way, WoN, there are $86 o/w fares direct between PHL and MSY on American right now. Only a few dates, though. Check Google Flights.
I don't think Harrah's has affiliate hotels in N.O. anymore. All comping is done at their hotel. Their hotel is very nice; comparable to a Marriott, although they don't have a pool but you can pay to use the one in the Loew's next door.

That is not a good change for me--the only comps or low prices (when compared to Harrah's N. O.) were at the affiliates. We don't visit often, but we get there every couple of years.
Quote: teddysSorry ... I must have missed it. What Caesars tier level are you again?
you've been saying this thru some of my threads.
what is it about me being diamond that bothers you?
O/W fares? What is that? American Airlines? Who is that ;-) I want to go to Harrahs New Orleans pretty bad. I got free airfare on CET bi-wing aircraft flights ( or whatever they offer) and free hotel ( if you get there ). Sparkles will not let me sign up. If I had a larger life insurance policy she might let me go ;-)Quote: teddysI have every night for the immediate future at Harrah's New Orleans comped. Wow, I really should make a return trip soon.

Ow is one way. So twice that round trip, roughly.
I've flown CET charters several times. They're MD80S (DC9) or similar. Nothing to be worried about. And very nice service on board, as well as moving you and your bags.

Most if not all of my offers are on smaller planes. I should have mentioned I don't like to fly unless I have MY hands on the controls. I know, it's an unwarranted fear, which doesn't stop it from being real fear.
You (BABBs) got any idea other than what has already been mentioned as to why 100X can't get a free room on 11/19/16 at Harrah's New Orleans? Hell, I'm tempted to book one and let him use it for free. Except that goes into territory just the other side of a line I've never crossed... 2F
I have tier envy.Quote: 100xOddsyou've been saying this thru some of my threads.

I was looking at a weekend in August, and the TR website listed the Sheraton New Orleans as an option. It wasn't listed as a separate hotel, though. It was listed in the available rooms when you clicked the Rooms & Rates button under Harrah's New Orleans.Quote: teddysI don't think Harrah's has affiliate hotels in N.O. anymore. With cheap flights on Allegiant and free rooms, I almost had Mrs. Joeman convinced we should go. She's not a gambler, but she's never been to New Orleans, and there is plenty to see/do that would keep her interested. Then somebody mentioned that it will be HOT in NOLA in August. I tried to reassure her that the casino's A/C works fine. She was not amused.
