Looking at a trip out in mid-November for the half-marathon, and the best on strip deal for what I want to pay seems to be Paris or Planet Hollywood. Only really bothered about the hotel rooms, as I'll end up playing in a variety of places. I don't have a Total Rewards card (or at least not a current one, must 3-4 years since I cycled anything through their machines).

Any suggestions on which might be a nicer room/stay?

My wife and I have never had a marginal room at Paris out of our 7 times staying there. The worst comment I can come up with is we stayed on the Bellagio side one time, and the fountains going off sound like dull cannons going off (which they are). We went to bed early and you could hear them going off (but only on the high water streams). However, when we stayed on the pool side of the hotel, we did not hear the cannons.

With no history so to speak of at a CZR resort, I would say it is 50/50. Both places have older rooms with no view that you will get put into with no history or an unwillingness to pay extra for an "upgrade". Both will be clean and will meet your needs if you are not too picky. As for where you stay, look at where you like the casino more, or are you willing to walk back to after a night of gambling. Game rules are about the same at both places, i.e. typical CZR rules.

So flip a coin and stay where you might like the casino and restaurants better.

Given that they are right next door to each other, location is a non-factor. Paris does have the hallway that links it to Ballys, so you have the advantage of two places to play without having to go outside.
I 'think' PH may have a younger crowd, and it definitely has more shopping within its roofline. Probably more eatery variety at PH as well. I have no clue as to what a room looks like at PH.

Yeah, and both are about the same distance from the start and finish line of the marathon.

Cheers for the input. I quite like both casino's, assuming they've not changed radically, though Paris is slightly up one for it's more relaxed atomosphere and the fact they've kept the theme (I like themed casino's...) while P-Ho has earl of sandwich and I love the sports book there.

I would prefer PH just because I like their casino more (pretty scantily clad dealers!) and the vibe there is more geared towards my age bracket.

However, I feel like you have a better chance at getting upgraded to a nicer room at Paris. Try the $20 trick and ask for a Red Room.

I was comp'd a red room one trip, and I was unimpressed. In fact, I much prefer the regular rooms. Now perhaps I was giving the lowest class red room or something, but it was not to my liking.

I've never stayed in either type, I just know a lot of people prefer the Red Rooms.

And I feel like there aren't that many upgrade possibilities at PH aside from maybe a room with a better view. My friend stayed there once and we were both very unimpressed with their room quality. We couldn't believe they charged that much when you can get much better rooms elsewhere for a lot less.

I'm just an MGM guy I guess. ;)

They even have some 3:2 games in their party pit, at $25 mins, one of which is a double deck. I was flabbergasted when I saw that on my last trip. Even though it was a full table with below average pen, I had to sit down and play with the nice dealers :). I haven't sim'd that game, but I'm confident I was playing with a decent edge, just not a great hourly.

That's actually quite surpising to me. They used to only have 6:5 games dealt by the "Pleasure Pit" girls. Even for $25, all you could get was 6:5.

Maybe CET truly is reforming their blackjack games.

Ballys & Harrahs now offer good 6 deck S17 shoe games for $25. I'm impressed.

Wait really? If they actually offer 6 deck S17 I might have to actually pay them a visit.

I think the casinos are close enough to where the games available don't really matter so long as a short walk is in order! Dining, nightlife, shopping, etc. ... same song.

IMHO, I like the Paris rooms better than PH ... I found PH's walls to be thin and not very noise-abating. I did like the PH bathroom better. Pools are a wash although I'd give Paris a slight nod.

My $0.02.

WHAT

WHAT

Are you absolutely sure??? I guess that's what I get for not scouting, if true. I would have played those games last weekend, probably.

Before now, I was under the impression that the only S17 game offered by CET in Vegas was in the Caesars Palace high limit room. If they're truly offering a $25 S17 3-2 game...well good on them.

I haven't seen either game so I can't confirm.

But I have seen two different posters on another board say that Ballys recently added a high limit table area, and they have a $25 S17 shoe game in it.

Stayed at PARIS 5 times out of my 6 visits to Vegas.... I can get comps at any CET property. Happy with the place , rooms have always been very good.

PH is a younger crowd,,,,, more of a party crowd??? might mean more noise in the hotel from partying in the room

If you are renting a car and do not valet park I think the distance from PH lot to hotel is a little further than Paris.

I personally dont like the casino at PH.....the layout or the amount of smoke compared to PARIS
