I was playing 10/6 DDB single hand at an off strip casino and in the middle of my hand the machine just locked up and froze, and the attendant was not able to unfreeze the screen and hard to reset the machine. The "AVP" logo came up and it never got past that screen. They were able to determine how many credits I had in the machine and issued a hand pay for it. However, it just happened that at the time of the screen freezing I was in the middle of holding 3 of a kind 2's (and was ready to hit deal/draw button), and the machine had froze. The casino only paid me the credits I had saved in the machine, not the active bet in the machine, and obviously not the result of it. I was very frustrated with them. Is there anything I can do to report this kind of issue, or did they not do anything unlawful by not paying me my unfinished $2.50 total bet on trip 2's I was holding?

You logic faulted their quad result. Bravo! I believe the machine says "malfunction voids all pays and plays" or some such. So if you're in the middle of 99 free spins on another machine, you could be out thousands, or tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands, even millions of credits if the machine malfunctioned. But you'll still get back what you had before the free spins started according to this kind of diagnostic.

Anything that you could do would not be worth your time and would likely bear no fruit.
