Saw a .25 progressive at $2100!
unfortunately, all seats were filled.
it's a multi-game machine but all but 1 was playing 9/5 triple double bonus (97%) for some reason.
that 1 person was playing 8/5 ddb (96.8%).
other games were 13/16 dw (96.8%), and 7/5 JoB (96.1% yuck).
all are eligible for the progressive.
at $2100, the return is 99.6% for 9/5 tdb.
strategy:

tdb variance (90) is high to begin with.
JoB is 20, dw is 25, ddb is 45.
but the variance on this tdb progressive is through the roof at 170!
im assuming everyone was playing the tdb because it's the highest return out of all the games available?
but is all that added variance worth it for the .2%?
I'd rather play 13/16 deuces wild for a less extreme roller coaster ride,

A couple years ago, a bank of quarter DDB machines (9/5) at MSS was at $3300. The highest I've ever seen for a quarter progressive.

Yikes. What is the base return?
Trouble (and Triple Trouble) bonus machines are very volatile. Even with good pay schedules, I'd play lower-EV games because the variance is so high. Download Wolf VP, change the paytables, and see that it could be a while before you get your original investment back.

If you don't think it is, consider using that money on a 60 month CD instead of at the casino

If someone is playing on a limited stake though, they might want to avoid playing the highest variance game. But deuces would be a bad choice though because the odds for a Royal are less than most. No 6/5 Bonus available 100X Odds?

Speaking of TDB, I should've been playing that while running down a promo today. Got the exact same hand only 40 hands apart...
