When I play DDB; I will when have 1 ace dealt along with 1 K Q J , hold the high card with the ace. Not EVERY time but quite a bit. My query is how bad am I skewing odds? In my doofus mind I'm kind of "saving" that 5 credit bet if a high card pair results. In real time it "seems" to have lengthen play. Thoughts? Thanks in advance! Aloha!

I don't know how much you're giving up, but it is possible to get AWAK holding just an ace. Unfortunately this one here which I just got about 30 minutes ago was only on BP and not TDB :-(

DUHHIIIIIIIII HEARD THAT!

what's the payable?

Are you saying you hold Ace along with one other high card? On a 9/6 DDB Without any low Ace penalties its an ER of 2.34 vs 2.22. Holding a lone Ace you'll end up getting zero pay 67.68% of the time vs A high card 62.39% of the time. In reality it's fairly low how much fluctuation were talking about holding the loan Ace. Just counting how often you make a JOB 5 credit pay back(excluding 2 pair) Holding the Ace is 1.22 v holding Ace high card is 1.55. That and the straight is the only things you get more often holding both cards.

Personally I think it's a bad play because it comes up often(. Even though you have 2 high cards and 3 spots to catch a pay pair, remember when you toss the high card you now have 4 spots to catch an ace and make other hands. holding 2 off suit cards excludes a wheel, Flushes and str8 flushes

You're also costing yourself a bunch of 4 aces over the long run. Hell you can even hit RF just holding an ace.

Correct play is to hold just the ace about 90% of the time.

Ah yes. Since gambling is illegal here and my Vegas trips are 2x a year; I guess it's not too bad a play. Yet is bad, if that makes sense. I guess I am seeing it as a break even if I save that 5 credit max bet play. Thanks for the info and comments it's always good to get thoughts from others! Thank you!
