I have a question concerning strategy for joker poker. I've downloaded wizard's VP app from the iTunes Store. I'm playing it for the purpose of learning strategy. When playing joker poker I'm finding a inconsistency that I don't understand. If I get a ace of spades and a 10 of spades the app says to hold both cards. If it's a ace of diamonds and a 10 of diamonds it says to just hold the ace. Which one of these is the correct strategy? I would assume that you would hold both cards in hope of getting the royal.

Both. Both plays are close in value and depends on the rest of your hand and whether or not you have a "flush penalty". A "flush penalty" is a card you discard that is the same suit as the cards you actually hold.

So if you do NOT have a flush penalty, then hold AT suited. (e.g. Ad Td 7c 6s 4c)

If you DO have a flush penalty, then just hold the Ace. (e.g. Ad Td 7d 6s 4c)

Is there a good joker game in Tunica I'm not aware of? I hate Joker Poker...lol

Thanks for the detailed response. No you are not missing a good machine in Tunica. I don't think there are any great pay tables left in Tunica. I'm practicing for a upcoming trip. I hope to get some VP play in then.

Thanks again for the response. I really appreciate it.

Most aren't great, but about half of the casinos have a few decent games for quarters.

Sam's Town 9/6 JoB (99.54%)...including at Roxy's bar.
Tunica Roadhouse...9/6 JoB, 100-penny progressive.
Fitzgerald's 9/6 JoB coindroppers
Bally's Airport Deuces w/STP (99.19% w/STP)
Resorts 15/10 Double Deuces w/prog. (98.86% base) at Stage Bar. 7/5 Super DDB w/prog. (98.61% base) at Delta Deuces bar

and your favorite...
Gold Strike has 9/7 DB (99.11%) for quarters-dollars and 9/6 DDB for 50c-dollar. Played 9/7 DB there last month. Games are a bit tricky to find though. Details here.

Thanks again for the detailed reply. I've never really played any VP until my last trip. I've been playing JOB and I'm getting better at the correct strategy. Hopefully when I get to Tunica again I'll be able to try out some of these machines.
