Quote: BlueEagleSounds to me like you don't understand how the game is played. You should read the Wizard of Odds Ultimate X Video Poker strategy guide.
The pay table pays for up to 5 credits. The additional 5 credits bet is only to activate the Ultimate X feature, which produces multipliers for the next hand based on the winning rank of the current hand. If the next hand with a multiplier results in a win, the winning amount (based on up to 5 credits bet ) is multiplied by the multiplier.
Might you have accidentally pressed the Max Bet button? I have accidentally hit Max Bet instead of Deal after setting it up for 5 credits.
Yep, thanks, I do now. And no I wasn't playing any yet.
Quote: beachbumbabsThat's if you're vulturing, a 1 spin shot to pick up the multipliers and not leave any more behind.
Someone has to start the investment in future multipliers by betting 10x, which is I think what Sammy is asking. No guarantee you will generate any next hand multipliers on that spin; you play a normal game, get paid 5x odds on your wins,(because you're max betting, not for any other reason) and IF you bet the 10x AND won at least 1 hand, then you get a future multiplier for each hand that won. If you won no hands, your entire bet is gone, and no future multipliers on the next hand.
Yep. And now from what others have said, one has to be careful as apparently some machines will max bet the 10 and not the 5. Probably safest to place it yourself. I don't think any of the UX's are designed to be clear to gamblers who don't read.
thanks.

?? There are VP games that are much worse. At least with ultimate x, you are creating multipliers at almost a 50% rate when you bet ten. It should become quickly obvious where the extra 5 coins are being utilized.

I don't know enough about that 50% figure as some have said here there is no guarantee of even one multi next hand. Wouldn't that statement be on the machine somewhere to read before pay? Paying the extra gives you the 'opportunity' for a 'chance' at a multi next hand, not that you WILL receive a multi. At least that's what I'm gathering from here.
gl
In order to get a multiplier you simply need to make a pair or better. If you look at any of the return tables for any game using the Wizard's calculators it shows you the probability of hitting each of the pays (pair, 2 pair, trips, etc). Simply SUM them up and you'll know how often you could expect a pair or better. Likewise, simply look at the 1 line of "OTHER" (meaning less than 1 pair) and that's the opposite...Quote: sammydvI don't know enough about that 50% figure as some have said here there is no guarantee of even one multi next hand...

Let's say JoB... denomination/pays are erroneous:
Royal Flush = .000025
Straight Flush = .000109
4 of a Kind = .002363
Full House = .011512
Flush = .011015
Straight = .011229
Trips = .074449
2 Pair = .129279
Jacks or Better = .214585
---------------------------
OTHER = .545435
Thus, you can expect to get a Pair or better, resulting in a multiplier, ~45.5% of the time.

Try again!
Pair of "jacks or better" while betting 10 coins. Thought it might be intuitive, but perhaps I'm mistaken =P.Quote: IbeatyouracesTry again!

"Winning hand" is much better. :-)
Pairs are also no good in DW unless they are 2's. ;-)

Anyone accidentally press deal button while switching through screens. I did it on a 10 play quarter game by accident last month. Ended up with 2 winning hands, vultured my screw up and bricked it. Cost me $29.
I accidentally Maxed on nickels yesterday with no multipliers, I was kind of trying to cover up what I was doing and hit it with my elbow while switching games. Pulled a Royal on one of the hands, of course, I don't know how to get pictures from my phone to anywhere, or I'd post it. WizardofNothing and TeddyS both saw the picture.

Gotta transfer your pic from your phone via email or some other transfer method and then have a 3rd party site host the pic. If you post at a forum that's compatible to "tapatalk" then you could use that to host pics directly from a smart phone. The last pic I posted on here was hosted through them. I acted like I pmed myself, added the pic...it gave me the img link and i copy and pasted it here.
Nice hit!!!
Quote: RogerKintTo all the casino staff reading this thread, notice how many so-called vultures "accidentally" play max coin ;)
I would have them know that a lot of us vultures also play it straight up. If it wasn't for vulturing I never would have touched the game.
Quote: GWAEI would have them know that a lot of us vultures also play it straight up.
Most do.
Quote: RSWhat're the odds Mission cashed out after the Royal, not bothering to vulture his own multipliers? ;)
0 in every time that will ever happen!
Edit: Actually, I send TeddyS a picture of the follow up. 45 credits.

Good answer even though I don't believe that is true.

I think that's the first time I ever did THAT, though on one other occasion, I accidentally maxed, but I at least had multipliers.

Juggling the drink at the same time probably threw off your perception.

It was either that or spill the drink, if you have any idea of the drink prices at Rivers, then you'll know that spilling the drink is way more negative EV than a single hand at nickels on five play.

lol. Didn't know that. I stopped drinking at the machines because when I put them down between machines I'd find cigs in them. Now that's neg EV.

Sounds like a crappy location.

At first, I read this thinking he hit a lifetime worth of vulturing in one hit for $50k (ie: 5-play quarters with all 10x's and gets dealt a RF).
Quote: 21formeToo many vultures and no machines higher than 25 cents
Yep, that's a crappy location.

meaningless without the # of hrs.
how much is it $/hr?
Quote: 21formeAbout $10/hr
5k hrs in 3yrs just vulturing?
that's 1667hrs per year = 32hrs per week vulturing?!?!
wow.. full time job = 2k hrs/yr
Quote: 21formeLike I said, he has too much time on his hands...
Actually, I'm impressed. And that beats playing full pay deuces for quarters. Plenty of people still doing that.
Quote: MoosetonI couldn't understand it.
Yeah it was a bad one. Let me see if I can get a better one. It says hail hail to vultures.

LOL I was a bit disappointed I didn't see him at Hollywood Kansas Speedway on Sunday night. The machines were picked cleaned though.
Harrah's NKC not so much. But God hates me, so nothing special.
Next Hand:
I also made a misclick at dollars that cost me $30. No actual dollar multipliers found.
Of course next hand, fml.
Quote: GWAEYep that is what I was watching on a saturday night. You all hold back your jealousy.
It was a good song. Sorry your kid likes "The Lion Guard" though. Even my g/f, Disney freak, doesn't watch it. lol

Damn mis clicks.
Yes lion guard is definitely not one of my favorites.
Lucky dealt hand and at the Wynn no less.
I was wondering something though. Can't a person create their own vultch pictures by playing max then when some multi's show up, put in 5 and take the picture before playing that hand? I'm not saying anyone does that here, but is it possible? I've not played multi's yet so I don't know the sequences.
A) what would be the point?
B) a jackpot is a jackpot on ux regardless
Thanks for any input.
