The royal reduction reduces the payback a little over a half of a percent.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

I've heard binion's have them. Considering OP, I assume this in Detroit somewhere. It's still an okay game if you want to grind out freeplay slash you only want to play 50c per hand. This setup rarely exists outside of 9/6 JoB. I did see a 250 for 1 Royal setup in Joliet recently for Multi-Strike w/STP Deuces Wild. Max credits didn't give you a bonus...but it did for every other game...*shrugs*

So in this case, is it better to play 1 or 5 credits?

Makes no difference. They all pay 98.88%. Bet whatever you feel like.

I've noticed junk like this at the Palms last year when I was there. I sat down at a machine, looked at the pay tables and thought cool, JOB 99.54 machine. I start playing and I glance at the payout table again and I notice no jackpot bonus. WTF. I just move over to another bank and find what I want. Seems some casinos mix in the good stuff with the poor pay table machines. The Palms seems to do this a lot. Sometimes good right next to bad. Now besides looking for 9/6 , you have to check for the jackpot bonus.
When somebody doesn't believe me, I could care less. Some get totally bent out of shape when not believed. Weird. I believe very little on all forums

The binion's machines are standard short-pay for 1 to 4 coins. The 5-coin payoff is the only oddity:
I'm not sure which is more pathetic: that I played a sub-99% machine, or that I thought a 125-coin payoff was sufficiently remarkable to require a photograph :(

It was dealt, yo!
And unlike the other machine shown, max coins does matter here, but not as much as normal (98.37% single coin vs. 98.88% max).

I just noticed JOB on Caesars Facebook game is 800/1600/2400/3200/4000 for a royal. I wonder if that is intentional or just stupid programming?

As long as you don't hit the royal it's a good game..... and if they have promotions for getting 4oak. Why did you hold the King?

And it's also suggested that you always hold all the cards if there is no bonus for a kicker. I don't always though. I haven't screwed up...yet

Only the weak hearted hold the king. I would give up the 4 of a kind on a malfunction (Never seen it happen), just to see a 5th 9 come up, just for the story and possible proof the machine was gafed.Quote: IbeatyouracesJoB. No bonus for a kicker.

A couple years ago, there was a thread on videopoker.com. The majority said they hold only the quad cards and toss the kicker.
Therefore I hold all five cards.
I think binion's did have a quad promo not too long ago. Plus there was a free spin promo that's probably still running. For $320 coin in (which only slightly exceeds the length of my tolerance for playing there), you get two spins at the kiosk. You can win dining vouchers, free play, or some nice prizes. For one of my spins, I was awarded the world's smallest suitcase.

Actually a great game for freeplay if you only want to play $0.25 at a time. $0.988 on the dollar with proper strategy and the variance is only 8.90!
