Has anyone ever had their host or a slot supervisor say this to them? Hahaha
It happened to me last week...
I went to put my quarterly play in ($30k coin-in) and I always choose to do it on a 3x points day (The highest multiplier they offer)
I also always do it on a 10-play 9/6 JoB machine. (10c denomination; ie: $5 a pull)
So I load up $800 (which I do so I don't have to keep feeding it throughout the day)
Now, the plan is to play $7500 coin-in per session (1500 "hands")
So I slog through the first session in 1:30 hours...cashing out with a $450 ticket. (yes, ouch, killed!)
Ate breakfast, and returned to my machine...began playing once more...this time I did a little better, hitting two separate royal flushes, for $400 a pop.
After another 1:30 session, Exuberant, I cashed out with $1120 this time. I went down to my room and got in my jacuzzi for a little while...
Again, I returned to my machine, for my third session...slogged through it, hitting a dealt quad for $125...cashed out with $1070 after yet another 1:30 button flogging session...
This time, I was curious...so I checked my point balance...it was WAY off, so I stopped by the club booth, and asked the boothling to check my play...she said it showed I had put through $11k, and played for 1h54m...WTF?!?!
So I got ahold of the slot supervisor, and asked him to look on the machines records, to see where I cashed in/out and where I had "locked" the machine (when I took breaks)
After some himming and hawing, he came back and said that nothing showed my accurate play, and that the machine didn't keep those kind of records (when it gets locked/unlocked, cash in/cash out timestamps)
I looked at him square in the face and said "Sir, in the hundreds of employees in this casino, I sincerely hope you employ SOMEONE who has an idea of what a computer is." lol
Seriously, I couldn't believe that NO ONE could figure this out, since it took me all of about 5 minutes, to collect all of the important data WITHOUT looking at the computer inside the poker machine, HAHA.
So, I then proceeded to tell him the REAL problem...which is they are continuing to use an outdated card reader system (circa 96 Bally 2-line readout), when MOST casinos have upgraded to a full color LCD display Konami system...
Then his complete demeanor changed and he said "I see you know exactly what you're talking about; are you a programmer or do you work in the field?"
I just laughed...but what it is, is the card reader system cannot keep up with the bandwidth of the machine itself; due to the fact that I play SO FAST...(I have it set to "turbo" and I don't let the credits ring-up, I just continually hit DEAL to keep going; because I don't want to sit there for 12 hours to have to put in $30k)

It's just unbelievable that these casinos don't employee at least a COUPLE people who understand the internal workings of a computer (But then again, if they did...would they really be working in a casino, and not in Silicon Valley??)

Did you get your proper rating??

I know that at Rincon it takes sometimes ten minutes for the computers to add up your machine play after you remove your card. And online the Caesars system can lag for 24 hours while the GreatGiftWrapUp system is up to the minute as soon as you stop playing.

So what happened? Did you wind up with credit for all of your play?

Yes, FINALLY...but it took my host MANUALLY going in and doing it.
Next time, I told Kris that we would just LITERALLY take 20 hours to do it, lol.

On a final note...i feel bad for the slot supervisor...as I think he got fired for telling me the truth...(My host DEMANDED I tell her who it was...truthfully, I don't know his name)

Alan, rincons card readers are BADASS! they even have the drink order option built in to them!

Lol, also...i never put in the final session of $7500...i instead went to UTH and grinded out $1000 profit and got 3x points for it, haha (which gave me an additional $90 in comp)

Bally's AC has these. They're convenient, but I find them somewhat annoying because nobody is directly accountable for getting you your drink. Plus, they come in this tiny bitchass plastic cups, but that might just be casino-specific.

Harrah's chester has them as well. And Harrah's AC. But yeah, there's no direct accountability for drink orders, and they come in tiny cups.

Tunica and Hammond, IN have them as well. System is good if they are adequately staffed. So that means CET in Vegas would need to double their wait staff for this system to work well. And I'm pretty sure Tunica will give you glass cups. Still small though. I just usually get bottled beer in Tunica.

The drink order screens on the machines were supposed to eliminate the cocktail waitresses and prevent the need for them to cruise for orders. But it seems no one is using the gizmos and the cocktail waitresses continue to cruise for orders.

The system was first tested at Rincon and also allows for reservations to restaurants, even booking nights in a hotel, using some comp offers, buying show tickets. All of the apps arent installed yet but I got a good look at what the future of the system holds.

Once they get the bugs worked out theyll probably try these in Vegas, but it involves new cabinets for all of the slot machines and that's costly plus the wiring and computer systems. And then the biggest challenge -- getting slot players to use them.

This is what they are doing at the Venetian currently so the electronic system is a waste. My g/f tried to order on the screen to try the "new system" last month, and we waited ~20 minutes before giving up and moving to a bartop to "guarantee" service. We noticed some waitresses were using a pen and pad to take orders.

Solution: Forbid waitresses to take order rounds for slots/video poker. CET properties in Tunica and Hammond do not have waitresses coming around to take orders in the machine areas. If you see one walk by and ask for a drink, they will tell you to order off the screen. If one is too stupid to use the screen, or ask someone "why haven't I seen a cocktail waitress?", then that's on the idiot.

Given the number of foreigners in Vegas, this could be a more problematic system though I suppose. Also probably the union is fighting the hell out of it. More efficiency = Less jobs.

Who is supposed to deliver drinks that have been ordered via touch-screens? Rosie?

Runners from the bars. I guess you could call them cocktail waitresses too, but they would really just be runners to deliver the drinks.

Since the "runners" only do half the work of a cocktail waitress, would their expected tip be reduced by one half as well?

I don't know but I would guess because they are runners and are just delivering they wouldn't need all of the assets that a cocktail waitress might need.

As long as I get my drink in the same time frame, I am tipping them the same. It may eliminate jobs, but I think the jobs that remain may get more tips due to increased efficiency.

They tell me that I'm gone. That is bs, of course that is their job to harrass you to milk more out of you. I would stir clear of that place, they sound crooked to me. I realize ALL casinos are not straight up but sure sounds as if this particular one has it in for you.
Shouldn't they be on your side? as you are paying their salaries putting in as much as you do to the casino. They will have to kiss my ass to even get 1/2 of that.
