I'm planning a trip to Vegas and the palms seems to have a lot of full Pay Deuces Wild $0.25 Machines assuming a session lasts say 2-3 hours what would a good session bankroll be (I'm looking more for past experience as opposed ROR stats)?
also I've seen a lot of people who factor comps into where they play (i.e. trying to find both good comps and good pay tables) has anyone here done that and how does the palms rate comp wise?

It depends on how fast you play too. You could knock off 3 or 4 hundred real quick playing fast if you don't hit any quad deuces. Or a couple hundred dollars can stretch out (if you're not getting killed with poor hands) and you're just poking along, not in a rush.

You'll earn a dollar or two of comps in a few hours of play as the Palms FPDW only gives 1 point per $4 coin in 400 points=$1. To be absolutely confident of not run out of money in 3 hours bring $500.

A bad short session (1 hour) is down 500 credits ($125). A bad medium session (like 2-3 hours) is down 1000 credits ($250). If you allocate $125/hour you should have no problem playing all your intended hours, assuming you hold the right cards consistently.
Many times you will sit down and play seemingly forever with swings no greater than $50 either way.
If I was to want to play 3 hours on fast machines (like 900 games per hour) I'd feel prepared with $300 cash. The machines at the Palms aren't that fast.

Regarding comps, don't expect anything from the Palms for FPDW play. If they're giving away buffets for earning points, the FPDW machines don't count as they're marked not eligible for promotions, as are all machines with games available better than about 99.54%. You have to look closely. You might be playing 9/6 jacks on a machine that also has NSU Deuces. Even though you're playing a 99.54 game, the machine is marked non-promo and you won't get credit.
If you give them FPDW action, you'll get mailers, say for $5 free play a week. Eventually.
If you do want to earn basic comps like buffets, etc at the Palms, also learn 9/6 JoB. They just added three 10¢/25¢ 3/5/10 Play machines. You can usually earn 500 points on one of those with minimal damage. They also have a 1c/2c 50-line game.
If you will make it back to Las Vegas twice in the next 12 months, and aren't already a Palms slot club member, PLEASE DO take advantage of their $1000 loss rebate. Best promo in town if you have $1000 in bankroll to tie up for a bit.
You will earn .25%/4 (.0625%) in points for every dollar you put through the FPDW machines. About 50c/hour.
