Hello Everyone,

I've been in Vegas for 15 years now, and I play my fair share of VP, maybe even more than that. I tend to play progressives more than other machines, but still like to play a good 9/6 JoB. I have a simple question to ask here and maybe several of you can provide some answers for me.
I travel all over the valley and notice that Grocery stores all have at least a dollar progressive that will range anywhere from a starting point of 6000 to 10000. I also know that small bars etc have multiple progressives as well mostly .25, but several have $1, & $5 as well. I'm interested to see where the best bang for my cash is, and if the other perks will help offset the sometimes low pay table. Are you likely to play for a progressive that starts twice as high as any regular machine, but has a less than favorable pay table?

My question is. Are there people here that would be interested in a site that gives you information for these places etc.
The information that I'm thinking about would be:
Denomination
Max Coin
Pay Table
Game Choice (Most progressives I've seen are Double Bonus 6/5, but with a Royal of 8000 or more on a Dollar machine. Some places offer multiple games to choose, with varying pay tables.)

Royal Flush starting point. I'd love to have an up to date meter reading, but that would take constant information from staff and involve updating the site continually, which just isn't an option at this stage of the game. So I figure I will start with the bare minimum. How much does this pay if I hit the Jackpot at it's lowest point, and which games are feeding this progressive.

Number of Machines feeding the Jackpot
Comps or promos from that location (4 of a kind bonuses etc. Food, cash or comp for play etc.)
Customer loyalty rewards etc.

I have a site that I've been fine tuning, but if you know anything about Vegas, you know that the Valley is very spread out, and since it's time sensitive information that I'm working with, it is ever changing and evolving. This is step one, maybe even crawling one. I'm just checking to see if it's just me who wants to know where the best bang for my buck is, and if it's information that I can obtain and share as well.
Maybe people don't want this information out there. I don't know and that is another reason for posting. Is there a place less than a block away that has better promotions? Better Pay tables? Higher starting points?

I'm generally interested in finding +EV progressives. My guess is that the easiest way to do this would be a small group of like minded folks sharing info via text message or twitter.

Message me if interested

Agreed, both posts, fantastic idea!

It would not necessarily be difficult, it would just take many contributors to ensure the information is as current as possible. The more contributors you have, the more current the information will be. There's no question that it can be done, just look at that Bravo Poker (I think) site that reports on the Poker Tables available at many casinos across the country, and it is the casino operators that manage the information provided on that site, I believe.

This would even work with some slots, like QuickHits by Bally Technologies, one of the only websites I've seen for which the probabilities of the Progressives (5-9 QuickHits) are posted right on the website. If you know these probabilities and the base ER, then it's not difficult to determine what $$$ amounts the Progressives have to rise to (for any combination(s) of QuickHits Scatter pays) that would actually put you at a positive EV.

You would simply take your base ER, multiply it (in decimal form) to the amount bet, figure out the mean for each of the results that woud cause you to arrive at that base ER. This would be a constant. You would then figure out the variable simply by determining the difference in the Progressive pays (whether positive or negative) $$$ amount, then multiplying those differences by the probability of each individual hit (expressed as a decimal) and adding or subtracting the total (as appropriate) to the ER of the amount bet. If the total is greater than the amount bet, you are spinning at an advantage. To determine the new ER, you would divide the amount bet from the total.

Seems to me you would be better of skipping the low pay tables and play progressive with a better pay table.

I know someone who was in the process of setting up her website to do this. She has contacts all over Las Vegas and has mapped out the various local casinos, Dotty establishments, and bars and convenience stores. Most of her friends and acquaintances are what you might term "geographically mobile" during the daytime due to their unique circumstances. However, many of them tend to share transportation due to various lifestyle or legal restrictions.

I have known her to plow through her allotted free play at Terribles the same day she is plowing through her allotted freeplay and meal at Santa Fe Station and recall that once she did that a day after having used up some points at Silverton.

I haven't spoken to ie, emailed her in a few months though.

I'll see if I can't find out whats been happening with her website that she was telling me about quite some time ago.

I've often wondered if there was any market for such current information as the various bingo bonuses or the various machines at a supermarket, its just that I've always felt no one but losers play in those supermarket machines.

Would anyone really pay to have access to such a website?

This is a pure linear approach, and will only work if there is no strategy change involved.

i think the term "static progressive" is funny. ive seen signs for those at the rebel gas stations. just means $500 for a royal at 50c/hand and $1199 for a royal at $1.25/hand.

I'm afraid that I don't understand what you mean by, "Strategy change." It's a Progressive Slot machine, max betting is the only strategy.
