I took at least a dozen cabs. Longest wait was maybe 5 minutes. At airport waited zero minutes. You’ll need someone else to recommend the steakhouse. The one in Aria was fine. But I wouldn’t specifically search it out.

Have you eaten at Gordon Ramsay -- that was in Paris, right? Sometimes I get what's in Bally's and Paris mixed. We ate there two years ago. Steak was excellent, plus they educated us table-side. Sides were not quite on par with the steak, but were good. The room had a bit of a youthful vibe, but we had a real nice time and literally closed the place.

Have you eaten there in the past and not been a fan?

Didn’t eat there. I went to enough way overpriced restaurants already… Wife and I are not ‘foodies’. My favorite restaurant BY FAR in Las Vegas is Makino. Sushi buffet. Wife doesn’t eat sushi or the assorted seafood options there…. I’ll be there in November for sure. Wife just likes chicken parm. We went to Bootlegger for that. Was good.

That's good to hear. I figured we'd just taxi around to wherever we want to get to, but the idea is that without a car we'll stick mainly to the strip.

I haven't been to Gordon Ramsay. We've been to Wolfgang Puck's 'Cut' in Venetian/Palazzo. It was excellent except for the bottle of wine we ordered.

Unfortunately we got a bit of bad news today. Westjet has cancelled our flight and re-booked us connecting through Calgary. They originally did it overnight flying into Calgary Saturday night and then leaving for Las Vegas Sunday morning. I called them up and after an hour and 45 minute wait I got them to book us on the Sunday at 6:30AM flight to Calgary and then we'll pick up the flight to Las Vegas.

So cabs are the way to go? Uber? Hearing stories of four hour wait for cars. No, thank you!

. I only used UBER once this trip. When we were at the Bootlegger there are obviously no cab lines or pickup spots. When I used the ap to order the Uber it told us 15 minutes but was more likely 20. Luckily they had a nice lobby area to sit in as it was 110 or so when we were waiting.

I had a bad UBER experience a recent trip as well. We were going to Florida and leaving on a 6am flight. The night before we used the ap to request a 4:15am pickup. A few minutes before the pickup it basically told us we are out of luck; there were no cars available! Why did I sign up the night before?? Wife’s daughter enjoyed waking up at 4:15 to take us to the airport…..

Thanks for that. Probably best to pick a central location on strip and hoof to nearby casinos.

I was thinking that we would take a taxi from airport to the hotel, but the chatter in this thread makes me think that we could be waiting a long time for a ride. Should I book a limo?

We flew in on Saturday late afternoon and had ZERO wait in the Taxi line. Shortest wait ever for us at McCarran as far as I can remember.

UBER may be a different story, wait-wise.

My impression is that the UBER and TAXI prices have gotten pretty close to each other, at least from McCarran. I like that the there are fixed fares TAXI fares from McCarran to the Strip now.

. I like the concept of a fixed fare. Now you and the cabbie have the same goal…. Get to the airport as soon as possible. My trip from Paris to airport was extremely quick. Back way, few red lights, felt like less than 10 minutes. I’m sure meter would have been less than $20. If I remember the fixed fare was $24.

I forgot that they now have fixed fares from and to the airport. A great move by the city and TA.
