I used to know people who took ketchup packets from fast food restaurants. College student type of poverty.

Food from a buffet? Casual stuff like putting an extra biscuit in your purse to munch on later is fine, IMO. My wife is a tiny person who eats very little food in a single seating -when she eats in a restaurant she always asks for a "doggie bag" to take home the rest of her meal.* But when she eats in a buffet - heck, she is charged the same as some 400 lb slob who literally eats 5-10 times as much she eats. If she enjoyed some food item and puts some in her purse for later, who cares.

* And sometimes she walks out of an expensive restaurant with 2/3 of her filet mignon, baked potato and desert in a doggie bag and sees a homeless person and walks over to them and gives them the doggie bag. It really annoys me -because I wanted her to enjoy that amazing meal. She is a better person than I am.
So many better men, a few of them friends, are dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things live on, and so do I.

I walked out of the Resorts buffet with a roll in my hand and two attendants pinned me up against a wall, threatening to ban me for life.
In Lancaster, many of the Amish and Mennonite buffets warn that removing food will result in a trip to the local hoosgow.

Is that worse than being shunned?

You're lucky that you didn't have a thin slice of ribeye stuffed in that sucker. They might have tazed you.

Or are you saying the buffet singled out minorities

Minorities were 70% of this buffets
business. They didn't have to single
them out, they voluntarily misbehaved
on a regular basis..

Yup, and buffets know this and it's
figured into the math of their bottom
end. I just saw a TV segment a month
ago that the number of fatties has
increased so greatly that buffets are
cracking down on the tubs of lard
who go back for more again and again.
They showed how they ban them for
life, and give them a refund.

They screamed and yelled and were
going to sue, and the manager told
them go ahead, the restaurant would
win with the video they have.

In my buffet the manager was black,
banning mostly black people. They
still screamed discrimination, the
manager would laugh in their faces.
He was on a first name basis with us
and would say 'No charge for the floor
show'.

I remember that, hilarious. Try doing that
now in a comedy club. Even though many
Chinese sound just like that when English
is a 2nd language, you can't mimic them
because that's now 'racist'. Whatever that
means.
