According the the wizard, the all part of the tall/small has a house edge of over 20%, taking the title of the worst bet away from the any 7.

I see people betting it all the time. Personally, I think the casino person who thought it up bet deserves a raise.

Why play it other than out of greed or desperation?

What is that about a man's reach should exceed his grasp or else what's a Heaven for? People spring for a buck on a fifty million to one chance in the lottery so at least they are better off with The All.

there are stories told here of casinos afraid of this bet ... nah, the fire bet is what I am thinking of

People are interested in betting a little to win a lot. Doesn't matter the house edge, they're attracted by those high payouts, no matter how difficult to hit.

They're afraid to be the guy to miss out on a large payout by being too cheap to put down a $1. It's not like you're asking for a minimum bet of $10.

depends on the payout.

https://wizardofodds.com/games/craps/appendix/5/#toc-All

I have seen only the 175 to 1 version

"The All bet wins if the shooter rolls every total except a 7 before a 7.
It is always offered along with the Small and Tall bets explained above.
The probability of winning of 0.005258, or about 1 in 190. There are two known payoffs, as follows:

If wins pay 175 to 1 (or 176 for 1), then the house edge is 7.47%.
If wins pay 150 to 1 (or 151 for 1), then the house edge is 20.61%.

why play it???
because a great payoff at 175 to 1!

think about it...
a lottery where the top prize is $2 more than the ticket cost.
no thrill of excitement
when one wins!

enjoy the ride and view

nice observation for sure

Why should he tell you which casino he works at?

Most posters who work in casinos prefer anonymity on gambling boards.

I truly do not understand the mindset of most people who play craps. I mean, I do, but I don’t. I don’t believe the justification that people love to bet a little to win a lot. Most people who bet these bad bets do not bet a little, they actually bet a lot. It’s like people who argue that roulette is fun because of the huge 35-1 payoff. But not really. Most people cover enough numbers that the payoff is really only like even money across all bets.

For example, I was at the casino playing the free buy bet 4 and 10, and this shooter goes on a tear, and I win a pile of chips.

So this shooter rolls nothing but 4s and 10s, but they’re all soft. The table is betting heavy on the hardways, and they’re getting killed, despite the hot roll. So I tell the guys next to me take the hard 4 and hard 10 money and put it on the 4 and 10 buy, and their response was that the 4 and 10 pay 7-1, and the buy bet only pays 2-1.

But that’s actually not true. These guys are betting $100 each on all the hard ways, so a win pays only roughly 2-1 across all the hardways bets made.

And trying to educate people on the house edge is impossible. I’ve learned to not even try.

last time we were in vegas my wife was betting it (despite me asking her not to) because she said its fun to play, she was betting $1 each, so $3 at a time) since there is a 1/6 chance the bet will be resolved and we played for about 1000 rolls of the dice (ish) it means that she cost us about $300 in EV, by contrast I was betting the pass line for $25 with 10x odds meaning I had a lot more action on the table, but the house edge is so much lower, meaning that I only cost us about $75 in EV, but my play got us our room and dinner comped, they didnt give her ANYTHING for bettign that sucker bet dispite the huge -EV we had to endure, (end of the night we ended up being down $2000, she was down $400 and I was down $1600, but I was more pissed about her $400 than I was about my $1600 because of the lost EV.

it was 30 150 30 when we were playing it, but she said she would ahve played it even if it was 25 120 25, because at that point its not about the edge its about the way the bet itself makes you feel. same reason she loves keno

overall people like her are what keeps the casinos in business, if everyone was like me (and like many of you) there would be no casinos

Caesar's dropped from the 35-175-35 to 30-150-30 sometime in the last two years. These bets are atrocious now.

I enjoyed betting the 175-1 on occasion and hit it for $5 once, but 150-1 is just robbery, so I don't bet it anymore.

I've bet it several evenings when it was 35/175/35. Probably played craps 12-14 times with it the last 5 years (I don't play craps much), won the all twice, the tall alone twice, the small alone not. Almost always a 2 way bet for $6. So I'm well ahead of it, and the dealers love me. Lol...

I think it's a fun bet for those odds. I won't play the lower paytable. I don't play the center, and i don't play if the min on a/t/s is $5. It's just a fun bet, and that's me.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

I play at the Hammond Horseshoe, where it's 35/175/35, and I play $2-$1-$2. What I like about it is that it hits often enough to make it fun (unlike the fire bet). I was there 2 days ago at a full table, and in one and one-half turns around the table, the small alone hit one, the tall alone hit once, and the all-small-tall hit once. The dealers had a one to two dollar bet up there each time, also. That one and a half time around the table took two and a half hours due to some good rolls and a lot of prop betting.

I'm a low stakes craps better - minimum pass line bet with double odds if it's a five dollar table and single odds for a ten dollar table, and one come bet with the same odds. I like being able to be happy about an additional number hitting, especially when it's a craps after I have my come bet locked in.

In general, wagers with very high top payouts have a higher house edge associated with them.

Losing small amounts, like the ATS bet, can easily be shrugged off. But it’s hard not to whoop it up when it hits.

True, its not much fun to lose but as a famous signature line reminds us If The House Lost Every Time, They Would Not Spread The Game. Basic strategy gives us the best shot at winning but its still a game in which the house holds a slight advantage on the pass line and much more substantial advantage on any of our more exotic "impulse" bets.

People, such as myself play it because a) we find it fun and b) it carries bets with the lowest house edge in the casino.

Also, F.Y.I- I've hit the "All" twice but never won a penny since I won't bet it.
