I was playing around on the Wizards Mississippi Stud Game because I've literally never played the game before...

Game: https://wizardofodds.com/play/mississippi-stud/

I noticed some repeating patterns and thus attempted to formulate my own "basic strategy" based off of when Mike's game had to "correct" me for making the wrong play. One question I do have for Mike, is the strategy trainer on this game 100% perfect strategy?

I started by grouping the cards in to 3 categories... Win Cards (A, K, Q, J), Push Cards (10, 9, 8, 7, 6) and Crap Cards (5, 4, 3, 2). I noticed I needed "1 win and 1 push" after the flop card, etc, etc... So then I gave values to these groups.

Win Cards (A, K, Q, J) = 1 point
Push Cards (10, 9, 8, 7, 6) = 1/2 point
Crap Cards (5, 4, 3, 2) = 0 points

I believe a simple way to remember the BS for this game is this:

1) Pre-flop: 1 Point... i.e. 1 Win or 2 Push cards... J-2, 6-7, K-3, 10-6...
2) Flop: 1.5 Points..... i.e. 1 Win 1 Push, or 3 Pushes... K-10-3, J-6-2, 6-8-10...
3) Turn: 2 Points (unless 3 push cards)... i.e. 6-8-9-2, K-Q-2-4, J-10-6-3...

So if you ever get dealt 2 points (such as K-J or A-Q, you're going to be swinging the whole way through). Likewise, if you get dealt 1.5 points (Q-7, J-8, K-6) you're going to be at least swinging to the turn.

This might sound complicated, but for me not having ever played the game to possibly having a simple way to have BS memorized after 10 minutes I kind of like it. I don't know though, perhaps the BS for this game is really easy (I wouldn't know, I've never even looked in to this game).

I played another 10 minutes (oooo maybe like 100 hands) and didn't get corrected once though. Thoughts?
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

I have played this in a casino quite a few times. During the first time playing it I did something very similar. I have never once looked at a strategy guide to.see how close it was but it was an easy way for me to play. I am sure I gave up a lot but these trips would be the drinking having fun trips so I never cared.
Expect the worst and you will never be disappointed. I AM NOT PART OF GWAE RADIO SHOW

You might not have given up as much as you thought... So far I haven't been corrected one time by Mike's strategy checker on the practice game.

This is probably the already well defined BS for the game. lol

fyi there's a strategy on https://wizardofodds.com/games/mississippi-stud/ which is very close to yours (i.e. play 65 suited as well). It also has later on strategy.

Oh I figured (and would have bet) the Wiz has a strategy page... Just curious if this off the top analysis was actually quite accurate. Curious if anyone else had done the similar things as the rules seem to almost spell out the strategy for you (IMO).

Finally looking at the Wiz's strategy page, it does look very similar =D.

I played the game before the Wiz published a strategy, and I agree that the strategy is intuitive, and your self-derived method is very close to optimum. Still really nice to see math verify the apparent best path, and to improve my chances with the fine tuning.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.
