I played UTH not so long ago at an Indian casino and the dealers didn't care if you looked at everyone elses hands at the table. This seems like a good player advantage if I know my possible outs aren't sitting in some other person hand. Is this common? And am I right that the information could be used?

It doesn't create enough of an advantage to overcome the house edge if that's what you're thinking.

Ac2d vs. *
54.9% vs. 45.1%
Neighbor has AsKd (One A dead)
Now
52.5% vs. 47.5%

7c7d vs. *
66.2% vs. 33.7%
Neighbor has 7h6s (One 7 dead)
Now
61.9% vs. 38.1%

3c3s vs. *
53.6% vs. 46.3%
Neighbor has Qd3d (One 3 dead)
Now
48.8 vs. 51.1%

So when you have 33 and see another 3 you probably don't want to 4X, but most of the time known cards don't affect the outcome enough to change the play. It takes 220 hands to get dealt 33 so the hands required to be dealt that and see a 3 in your neighbors hand is easily in the thousands.

Yeah, it's not enough to overcome the house edge. But Stephen How did some math over hands where strategy changes. Using the info will help reduce the house edge though.

It's much more valuable to see one of the dealer's cards of they flash.

It won't become +EV, but they do help, especially with a full table. I've only been to a couple casinos in Vegas where open hand sharing is allowed, but it definitely helps in the situations he describes

I find it foolish that casinos don't allow sharing of cards on UTH. I think we discussed before that the sharing of that information is not terribly valuable (rarely is it going to affect what the correct play is).

What happens FAR more often is that average players chicken out of a good play when they see an out gone. "I've got Ace Jack suited! I'm gonna bet four ti...oh, you have a jack? I check..."
