I saw a cash play situation just the other day. First I had seem for a little while. Guy bet his last 4 green chips and got a double down situation. He dug in his pocket and pulled out a Benny. I was expecting the dealer to exchange for 4 green chips and he looked like he started to, but then stopped and asked the guy if he was doubling for full amount. When the guy said 'yes', dealer put the cash next to the original bet and announced "cash plays". After the guy won the double, the dealer paid with 8 green chips and the guy picked up the Benny and put it back in his pocket. The whole thing seemed just a little strange to me.
This was at Orleans, so it wasn't a small out of the way place.

When I was a craps dealer many moons ago, we were required to call out "money plays, up to the limit" when a player desired to place a bet with cash. One player had a wad of money bundled up with a rubber band with a hundred dollar bill showing and said "play it on the field." I announced "money plays, up to the limit" to the boxman and booked the bet. He lost and when I took the rubber band off to collect the money, it was an inch of $1 dollar bills inside the Benjamin. LOL! If he would have won, he'd be paid in chips and allowed to keep the cash. This was proper procedure at that time.

Must have been from one of the Travel channel shows where the man says if you want to play cash, tell the dealer "cash plays". Do any casinos actually let you do this playing cash and being paid in chips?

Cash plays at some casinos that I've been to. In fact they recommend it when you reach into your pocket for just enough for a double down or something.

I saw "cash play" a coupla years ago in AC. An oriental cat came back from the atm and put a big wad of hundreds on the banker side at a mini-bac table, hey hey.

Maybe I should qualify my statements earier in this thread with, If I were to ever run a casino, money would never play and anybody who doesn't follow the rules with get progressive disciplinary action.

I guess some dealers, floors and managers don't care much about proper procedure :)

Amazing a cat even lived long enough to be 21, yet figure out an ATM machine and have a bank account. Siamese cats are pretty bright though. Our neighbors cat stole all the gloves he could fit in its mouth.

If I was laundering cash, I'd be happier if they changed all my bills so I can get different bills later on. What's the purpose of laundering money if I have to keep it?

People confuse what laundering money really means as apposed to washing bills.

Yes they are doing this more and more it's probably the norm now. It really dose not change anything but takes a bit more time.

Some of the SoCal indian casinos let you do cash play too; I usually call it if I only plan on buying in with a single bet's worth to save the bother of changing it.
