Maybe he'll wind up broke like the Canadian mattress king Allan.
I tell you it’s wonderful to be here, man. I don’t give a damn who wins or loses. It’s just wonderful to be here with you people.

Maybe.
Can't he lay off some action with a Las Vegas Sports Book???? After all, casinos have hotel rooms and that means beds and it would be great publicity for a sports book to take 5,000 luxury mattresses as its fee.

I heard that a few of the larger Vegas books were already over leveraged with Astros bets. So they passed on him.

I would AP him. Order a mattress and pay for it on your credit card. Schedule it for delivery after the baseball season. Cancel it if Astros don't win.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Guy in NJ just dodged this. The year the Super Bowl was in the Meadowlands, he offered free furniture for all if we had six inches of snow on SB Sunday. There was no now for the game, but four hours later, a near blizzard kicked up and we had almost a foot 24 hours later.

He has "lost" these bets before; his way of "insuring" the potential loss to some extent, at least lately, has been to bet on the event.
He is an icon in Houston. He does a lot of charity work. He opened his furniture showrooms to people displaced by Harvey a couple of years ago.
His furniture is on the expensive side, but we have bought from his stores a couple of time because he carries nice stuff and there isn't a lot of high-pressure sales tactics as some stores will do to you. He gets the stuff out to you house fast--but it today, have it delivered tonight--which costs some money but people want what they buy as soon as they can get it most of the time.
This promotion also generates a crap-ton of free publicity. He has a lot of ads also, but the TV stations start covering it when the event in play comes around. They all talk about how much he may "lose" while giving him lots of TV time.
