Re: #2 - The "coin" will be a commemorative piece that will have the Lombardi Trophy on one side and the team helmets with logos on the other. I don't know which side they will call "heads" or "tails" (or if they will call them heads or tails at all).

Re: #9 - If the first score is a safety due to a bad snap, or player running out of the back of their end zone, does the other team get credit for "first score?" Technically, the first team to score earned points for the other side.

I think you're still looking for a "yes" or "no" answer for #1.

In the case of a scoreless first quarter and a scoreless third quarter, the answer would be "yes."

"Yes, an equal number of points were scored in the third quarter as were scored in the first quarter." (Zero points were scored.)

However, if the third quarter had more points scored than the first quarter, the answer would then be "no."

That's how I read the question.

I agree, but I seem to see the clarification in the small print around this time of year, so it must be an angle sore losers have tried to shoot.

On the flipside, what if the first quarter is scoreless, but an earthquake during Beyonce's halftime exit causes the second half to be cancelled. Since both a scoreless first and a non-played third quarter have the same points scored, is it a tie?

Yes, I suspect a non-played third quarter would result in a push. :)

I pm'd Mission my picks. There are many questions which are clearly correlated. Since as I understand it, there is only a prize for first place, I went with all the correlations. For example, will there be anyone picking Denver who isn't also picking Miller to get a sack? Etc.....

If zero points are scored in the first, then zero on the third would be equal or lesser.

Whichever the refs announce first will be heads. Whoever gets the first points has scored first.

Been listening to ESPN radio jocks, predicting Carolina winning by 14 to 17 points. Same guys who said Bronco defense could not sttop Tom Brady, Gronkowski, Entlemann, etc.

Interesting fact Carolina RUN defense is 16th, gives up 112 yards a game. Plus many teams stop running when behind.

Now add in this fact. In the last 20 games where Denver gained 100 yards running ( as a team ) they are 19 and 1.

Brady and Newton are two entirely different animals. I had Denver beating the Pats precisely because I thought the Denver D would be awfully good. I am now picking Carolina because I don't think that Denver can stop the combination of Newton running and passing and Stewart running. If one of the Carolina receivers steps up (besides Olsen) then it becomes a blowout, but I do expect a low scoring game because the Carolina receivers are iffy. My call is Carolina 23 to 13.

Why do people think there might be a blowout ? Denver defense is at full strength !

First of all, congratulations to FourFiveFace on a great win! FourFiveFace went into the Super Bowl with a three-way tie for the lead, and both Wizard and FourFiveFace picked the game correctly, but FFF ran away with it by answering 8/10 questions correctly!

SOOPOO, likely anticipating the Dog Picks on the parts of Wizard and FourFiveFace, went the opposite way and it didn't work out for him this time...but I do like the strategy. SOOPOO probably figured Wizard would play historical results of all NFL games (Dog, Under) and thought FFF would either take the Broncos or the Under, so a result of CAR/OVER might make the questions irrelevant...at least as far as the individuals tied with him were concerned.

I hope everyone enjoyed the new format because it is here to stay! Again, the objective of this format is essentially to at least get everyone to the Conference Championship games still having a chance, and I feel like this format accomplished that. In fact, if we look at JML24 jumping from 13 to 27 and SteelDCo jumping from 13 to 25, I'd say the top half of the players had an outside shot at winning.

Furthermore, Denver actually beat the Patriots, which makes the Denver pick even stronger considering that Denver won the Super Bowl.

** OOPS! They both picked the Patriots and the Cardinals! Had they won, I would have declared them both the winner and paid both. In the meantime, I'll have to come up with a fix for this tiebreaker. In all likelihood, I'm going to set it up so TieBreaker 1 is the SB Picks before the Playoffs start and TieBreaker 2 is the SB Picks that will go after the questions!

***Based on the performance of FourFiveFace, it would have been mathematically impossible for me to win as my highest possible score would have been thirty. How I would have answered the questions is irrelevant, but my SB Pick would have been Denver, Over, so four points there.

Thanks for running this Mission! I was also using what I thought was a contrarian strategy. I assumed the leaders would back Denver and end up in a big tie. My hope was that the Panther's would have a big day... which they didn't.

Happy to win; thanks to Mission for putting this on again! Part of my thought process was that 5.5 points was too much considering the strength of the Denver defense. But another part of it was that everyone and their mother was picking Carolina to roll, so I went the other way.
