(Without just betting the other side and paying the vig, lol)
For baseball, only when there is a pitching change?
For the NFL and NBA, I know the answer is probably no, but does anyone know of an instance where they cancelled tickets in games where star players were ruled out which had moved the line significantly?

The general policy is they will void a ticket if the request was made shortly after the bet was made, like 5 minutes, and the line didn't move. The only reason they like to cancel wagers was if the bettor claims the bet was made in error. A pitcher change or announced injury would be a terrible reason to make the request.

As I understand it, you CAN make wagers on baseball where the bet is void if there's a pitching change. But you have to specify that when you place the bet.
At least that's my understanding as it was explained on one episode of the You Can Bet On That podcast.
I doubt if there's anything similar for other players or other sports.

The William Hill rules specify three different types of baseball bets; "action" (where any pitching changes do not cancel the bet), requiring one specific starting pitcher, or requiring two specific starting pitchers. If a starting pitcher is changed (but the bet did not require that pitcher to start), the money line can change as well.
Also, the rules say, "Once a wager is accepted by both parties, tickets will not be altered or voided except at the discretion of management and with the approval of both parties."

I don't know what the guy is charged with specifically but why does he have to sit in jail..... his face is his own bail bond. He will be recognized wherever he runs to, so let him out on bail and let him play the game and lets screw all the bookmakers instead of screwing all the customers.Quote: kewljI am guessing you Have a wager on the Vikings sunday that all of the sudden doesn't look so appealing.

That is true for ML bets. If you are betting based on the run line (+/- 1.5) those are almost always based on the starting pitchers and are void if there's a change. If you include it in a parlay, it will be considered a push, so, for example, a 4 teamer will be lowered to a 3 teamer.

Now that I have an idea where this thread might be going, I'll repeat my initial reply, and highlight the key part:

So what happens OUTSIDE of Vegas.
People hear "the news" and they try to get a bet down with their bookies before the bookies hear it and change the line.
Should there be a different response INSIDE Vegas?
When a football quarterback broke his leg but a Queens NY bookie didn't check the news and kept making book at last night's rates the Bookie got taken to the cleaners and had to go to a "six for five" man to pay off and stay in business, but that made all the sharp guys sit up and take a look at the bookie who was there to stay and not welsh when he got hit by all his "friends".
