However given that the consensus around the league is that NE got screwed with the flag/no flag ending of the last game.......does anyone think that maybe conciously or sub-conciously offials in the next game will give NE a break, and maybe swallow their wistles on some boarderline holding calls etc. I am not saying that if denver runs back a kickoff return for a td...there is going to be a late flag to negate that play in sympathy of new englands loss last week.
What is keeping me away from this game is that I was leaning toward denver, but I am paranoid that NE may get the sympathy calls or non calls.
we novices wont notice it of course...nothing blatant......but I just get the feeling NE may get the benefit of the doubt on some plays
now if i was leaning toward NE...i would be all over this game.....
any opinions on this....if u think I am paranoid....thats fair

The only thing I'm a little sad over is that Wes Welker may not get a chance to stuff the ball down Belichick's throat.......
I would take -3 (worst price available right now) about Denver all day long, shorter even more so, of course :)
Quote: TomspurDenver is the better team, period. The calls will have to be so bad that the NFL will want to pull the refs from the field mid stream. Not even with the game being played in Foxboro will it make any difference.

I'm a Denver fan so won't get involved in the betting discussion. The thing that concerned me in their first seven games was the amount of points they were giving up. But the defense has done quite well the last few games. I guess Von Miller has really made a difference.
Quote: Zcore13I don't think there is any chance of the "make up" call happening. If it was during the same game yes. Different game, different team of refs, no. I was an umpire. I even umpired Professional Baseball during Spring Training in Arizona. Do make up calls happen. Hell yes. Miss a ball/strike on a close one. Next one goes the other way. Ring someone up on a check swing that was really close, next one's a no swing. But that kind of stuff never carries over to the next game. Never.

none of those caslls decided a game that had national attention. And a single NFL rgular season game carries alot more weight and is worth alot more monet to a team than a regular season baseball game let alone a preseason baseball game. I have no inside info, and youropinion is just as valid as anyones.
Also I dont think denver on the road is so so superior to NE at home. So in my opinion a series of blantant favorabnle calls would not have to happen to tip the scales to NE.

I am also a Denver fan and my biggest worry up until now has been the LT position. Ryan Clady is a beast, and replacing him with "next guy up" worried me tremendously, especially with a old guy like PFM back there.
But, last game Chris Clark really stepped up, and KC has some decent pass rushers. Not sure off hand who NE has rushing the blind side, but it's a position to worry about that a lot of people don't realize. Now of course I was an offensive lineman in high school, so I may be biased :p
People who are independent have been saying that it was defensive holding...5 yard penalty.......not pass interference which could be reversed by an uncatchable decision. The officals rush off the field without an explanation awarding the win to carolina.....wow they were in friendly confines...the crowd would not have rioted.....they wanted that call....yet they run off.....and give no explanation till later. Dont the paying customers and people watching at home deserve an explanation? What was such a secret? Heck the oposing coach didnt even get aN EXPLANATION. Brady had to chase the officials down the tunnel and still no one talked to him. THe officials huddled in their lockerroom..and came out with the explanation,
If there is makeup calls....we would never know it. Like they say....holding can be called on every play....so if a couple of plays where holding would have been called ends up not being called...no one would know the difference.
If you think I am saying that denver will get a runback of a punt for a touchdown and there is going to be a bogus late flag to negate the TD...absolutly not.
I am just saying that a borderline holding call against NE may end up a nbo call...either conciously or subconciously.
all I am saying that its possible....if it happens or doesnt happen ...no one would ever be able to prove it.
Quote: speedycrap17-0 Denver after first quarter.
I'm sorry to say, I have a big bet on NE tonight. 3 fumbles and no QB dominance at 17-0 is quite odd for these teams.
Larry S, you cannot have a holding call once the pass has been thrown. That pass was well out of Brady's hand when the obvious interference occured. I believe it was a terrible call because the interference kept Gronkowski from having an opportunity to compete for the ball. It may have been intercepted anyway, but Gronk may have been able to dive for it too. No opportunity because of a bear hug means there should have been one more play from the 1-yd. line.

24-7 is close? What did you expect?????

the ball was not a long arching throw over 50 yards...it was a bullet. If you can say the ball was thrown before gronkowski was mugged thats fine...i didnt view the play with split screen of the throw and the mugging. In my opinion it was either holding or pass interference. Doesnt matter I had no dog in that fight.
all week talk radio out here in nocal was all about the no/SF call at the end of the game and the penalized QB hit. Very little angst about the NE game.I totally forgot about it by now. Thats last week....and this week is almost all gone.
On to week 13

I did watch the split screen/split second analysis on one of the cable all sports channels. I didn't have a bet on that game, but I won a very unexpected SMALL FORTUNE tonight! I just heard a stat on NFL network that is nearly unreal. In NFL history, there have been 492 games where one team trailed by 24 points at some point during play. Only 6 have come back to win. I truly thought my goose was cooked tonight. Especially at halftime.

Epic meltdown by Denver last night, capped off by the muffed punt. Just an unbelievable turnaround considering how well Denver's D played all first half.
Who were those people in the Pats uniforms!? They sure as hell weren't the same team in the 2nd Half!
That's what Brady & Gronk do...WIN GAMES!
I took them with +2, but I was shittin' bullets at half. Then I said HELLO!
