Now i dont really suggest playing this game, but the way that she was playing made it completely clear, that endurance, as well as patience were the main two things that were required to play this stupid game.
her "strategy" went like this :
She was betting the minimum normally and would repeatedly tap the minimum bet and sometimes press the next bet tier randomly. but the almost every couple of bet button presses she would end up profiting. all she had to do was to keep the displayed "meter" up. This "meter" was the main part of the game which when you push the bet button, will slightly increase but usually immediately goes down IF you do not continue to press any of the bet buttons. So the only way to win apparently was to endure the fact that every button press will not get you to a "zap" but repeatedly pressing the bet button and keeping the "meter" up until it went to the "globe" and then you win money.
she made it to her profit stop and cashed out in front of me. i was amazed needless to say.
Quote: heatmapAt wind creek they have a bank of 3 of the "Lightning Zap" slot machines. Every time i walk past these machines they are normally empty. But the other day I decided to ask someone why in the hell they were playing it. I ended up kind of dumb founded because I completely understood the underlying mechanics of how to play once i saw this lady playing. She said she NORMALLY plays this game which was even more crazy. She also states that she has her limit of winning and she leaves. Every time if she makes it to an 80 dollar amount, she cashed out.

you were fooled also.
the meter is an animation akin to reels spinning. by continuous button mashing it appears the meter is achieving something but basically you are just watching animations flash by at a fast rate.
this is a negative expectation game. I did a little bit of quick research on it when I came across it as well. I even wrote a thread about it on here. you will lose money playing it.

The description begs the usual question that if the machine is beatable, why isn't she hiring a crew, or telling her family and friends in order to maximize her profit before they haul the machines away?

Sounds like she decided that a free $80 a day stays under the radar of the casino. I'd like an extra $30k a year risk free. (Not that I believe this is what is happening, but it is a small possibility)
