Wheel of Fortune Slot Bet

So I have a friend that wants to bet me on the functionality of the old 3-reel mechanical Wheel of Fortune slot machine. We are talking about the version where the WHEEL symbol appears on the last reel only. Typically the cherry symbol has a one of a kind pay associated with it. He seems to think that if you land a single cherry, and hit the wheel spin on reel 3 you are not paid for the cherry. I was scouring a casino recently looking for Ultimate X multipliers left on machines, and after about 5 hours of not finding one, I decided to dump the 3 bucks I had on me into a WoF and head out. I seem to remember hitting the cherry and a spin, and getting paid for both. Any help greatly appreciated here. Currently my chedda is spread way thin, and I only want to get involved in the bet if it is a lock.

Be aware that there could be multiple paytable versions and that you are both right.

Most slots will have some kind of statement something like line pays are evaluated and only the highest win will be paid for the line. I'm not sure how much information there is on the machines, but you have to look. The situation doesn't happen very often so it would be hard to even find to satisfy the bet.

nmacgre, last year, started a very similar thread asking about a feature on Aristocrat's Buffalo, and then raised holy Hell over answers he got on here, resulting in numerous personal attacks, several bannings and a lot of unhappy members. Because of this, I STRONGLY warn any respondents against providing any advice to him about what might be correct in this case, especially on a 20+ year old slot with various paytables available over the years. I also advise nmacrge that the first sign of any attacks or angry nonsense against any member who does reply will result in a nuke for him and a locking of this thread.

Having said that, it is not open season on nmacgre. I am not encouraging a re-opening or re-hash of the other thread. There is nothing yet in this thread that elevates it to problem status, so I am not closing it pre-emptively. But all participants, please proceed with caution.

Babs, your warning has prevented me from getting the proper intel from members on this bet, and thus drove me into making a foolish bet, costing me 2 large ($100=1 large)... That was a joke, please don't ban me.

I didn't raise holy hell in that post (that was some guys mom or dad), and I have never been banned. I did mildly sexually harass Crystal Math (I didn't know he was male at the time, and I was looking for a wife), but we've since become buds, and even talk shop in private messages every once in awhile. But we all did learn something pretty interesting about Aristocrat's Buffalo!

Also, as it turns out, Wheel of Fortune does not pay for the cherry win when you land the wheel spin. Place that bet with any of your buds, it is +eV.

No there's nothing wrong with that at all. There's nothing wrong with that at all.

I play the hell out of that machine, and some of them pay the cherry and some don't. For what it's worth, all of the 3 reel video simulations that I've played pay the cherry. I personally prefer the mechanical reel version, the single line rather than the 5 line.

That has been my experience as well, especially on the oldest single-line. It pays 1 or 2 cherries, it spins, and you get paid the total.

The first slot I ever calculated was a WOF game. I clearly remember that 2 cherries did not pay when the WOF symbol was on reel 3. That was about 13 years ago, and it wasn't a new game, but used for training at GLI.

No doubt, there are games that work both way; IGT has made dozens of WOF varieties.
