Walter Ray Williams is unbelievable, and he's a class act. I got his autograph one time, and he was such a nice guy. (The exact opposite of Pete Weber—can't stand him!) The sad thing though is that the average person probably doesn't even know who he is.

Table tennis!!!
Quote: WizardI often don't even make contact with the ball when I use a driver. Speaking of which, can I say it was a practice swing and not count it?
When you deliberately attempt to advance it toward the hole, no.

I wonder how well he shoots craps.

Ping pong!!! Table tennis sounds snobby.

How could anyone prove it wasn't a practice swing?

I have a controller friend who has bowled several dozen 300 games, and has a 1 handicap in golf. His son, named after him, also has bowled 300 games, and has a zero handicap in golf. His son is also a Downs child. Though the father was our CFO for a decade, his math skills pale compared to many on this board, not least of whom is the Wiz.
We all have our gifts.

Ping pong it is and shall ever be. Our next prop bet should involve a match. With a one-game warm-up to get my broken arm moving (I'm left-handed). Your juggling skills against my rusty college championship. Bobby Riggs, meet Billie Jean.

There is a lot in the PGA rules that depends on the honor of the player. Having just read that long, interesting thread about the judge stepping in front of the car, I would expect nothing less than your honest count, by the rules, over a specious claim of intent. Even if you're the one who set the bar high, you still have to jump over it.
Heh heh heh. I double-dog dare you.

I accept! I'm 99.54% sure you'll win, but wasn't Billie Jean a huge favorite too?

This is definitely true, honor is a big deal in golf. As far as proof of a stroke, if you take a stance and address the ball, and make a backswing/follow through that's proof enough for me. No one should ever take practice swings over the ball because then you're practicing to miss the ball!!

I would say that's lowering expectations right there. I'm spotting you a few years and lousy eyeglasses, plus 2 titanium plates where my elbow used to be. I think you're up to it. But it's on, regardless.

No, Riggs was a moderate favorite. He crushed the #1 women's player in the world 6 months prior. There have been recent allegations he threw the match vs. King as well. He was a pretty big gambler, and was resident tennis pro at Tropicana for awhile.

Quote: WizardI don't have a favorite hole, but I tend to like simple cheap public courses. Put me on something fancy like Shadow Creek and I will absolutely blow it. Every part of my game is awful, but my short game is less awful than my long one. I often don't even make contact with the ball when I use a driver. Speaking of which, can I say it was a practice swing and not count it?
Hey Wiz, ever take a lesson?
I moved to Florida 10 years ago, golf is cheap here. Some courses, 20 bucks gets you an electric cart and 18 holes.
So started playing.
I was terrible and also sometimes missed the ball.
Took a lesson, it helped a lot.
Funny thing is I still suck, shoot an honest 120, but at least I hit the ball consistently due to my lesson.
Quote: terapinedHey Wiz, ever take a lesson?
I took lessons for a few years in the late 90s. Before the lessons, my handicap might have been pushing 200.
And as good as Switch at " table tennis ", here is the master !
